I always have to remind myself to stop feeling frustrated at the audacity of men and their fickle hearts when it comes to taking multiple wives...So annoying!
Luckily we still have the grandmother matriarch with some heavyweight family name!
Even the leads of this show have antis (based on the rating)???
I enjoyed the first episode so much that it did not feel like 45 minutes went by. Even wanted to take time off work to binge through the next 4 episodes.
I wasn't expecting a "second chance" drama based on the synopsis and that they would go back so far in age but the transition was definitely interesting.
That's cool! Are you into Chinese classics and which poem was by Li Bai?
Ah, I got to rewatch and see if I can pick up on them. I have not learned Chinese formally so I am envious of those who can appreciate the language more...
Ep 14 got me excited about this show again - I liked how YJL put down ZXY, such a righteous green flag, while ZXY turning darker made him even more interesting to me.
It's satisfying to watch how ZXY dealt with his grandfather who bit off more than he could chew. I hope that ZXY will be the ultimate cause of NWN's downfall. Perhaps I should feel sorry for her, but I don't and I really want to see her taken down a notch or two.
I also have more respect for JYY's brother, he's not that useless and he is at least not a coward, protecting JYY the whole way.
We also finally have the 2ML appear...can't wait to see what chaos he will stir up!
Thank you! I like her voice - there's a unique quality to it so apart from her singing, I also appreciate her dubbing her own voice for her characters.
So tired of that Wu Niu Niang. Ep 13 would have had a nice twist if just when we thought she got away with things but her father actually followed through with his threat. He's a much more interesting villain.
No I get you. I’m on episode six, but I feel like the pace starts to get faster and better once you pass the…
That's true and that's why I wait until I am past the halfway point of the show before I decide if I am going to drop it. For this show, the acting is good and I like ZYC's skills especially when he does the stunts and fighting. Even if the plot is nothing new, I will hang in there for him :D Seven of course is just a natural talent. For some reason, I am not liking the FL's character that much but Seven is playing her well.
Its a good light watch but not one that will rock your world. What I think works well here is there is humor to…
You're right...The comic relief is good, and the actors, especially Seven, can do comedy well. I am not eagerly waiting for the next episodes, but the show is still worth my time. I just wish they would change the story up a bit. Even watching at 2x speed, I don't feel like I would miss anything.
I am a newbie so I have not watched that many shows. However, I also find the plot quite quite lackluster. By…
Yes and no. The setting is, of course, different, but the FL characters are similar in that they are assertive young girls who do not think that a woman should be limited to the traditional role of being an obedient wife. In both shows, the FLs have to deal with adversity but they do triumph against the hateful spiteful people trying to oppress them. I think the Sword and Brocade had fewer annoying people and was very much focused on the romantic build-up between the FL and ML and how they supported each other. Of course, it is too early to tell in this show, but it seems less "romantic" at this point.
Watching at 2x speed now mainly because the storyline is not fresh. Maybe I have watched too many shows with the same story about a woman's life journey and her struggles. Just switch out the industry :D I am still watching because I like the leads and want to support both but my interest is waning.
The pacing is quite fast and each episode is packed! I like how the FL character’s development and how she stayed honest with the people that mattered.
Accurate description!!But the turd drop at the end completely stank up the entire drama for me .. bringing into…
:) You reminded me of how annoyed I was when I was done watching the show. Considering how irritated we were, we were very generous in rating the show 8 and above. Regardless, the journey itself was indeed enjoyable, so I am glad that at least you were able to appreciate the candy trail and slow-burn romance.
Lately, the CDramas, including the highly rated ones, have had terrible endings (sad, open, incomplete...). For now, I am watching kdramas and from other countries to get the satisfying happy endings.
I just started ep 1, your observation that SHJ looked gaunt was on point. I hope it was deliberate because I always…
That's a good point! I enjoy the comment section very much except when it is overrun by fan wars. So, in a way, it is good that more KDramas are aired once or twice a week.
I usually don't watch daily/weekend/family dramas because they are so "makjang" to the point that I get so infuriated with the characters. So I am not patient enough to watch so many episodes of those characters who annoy me - hehe! However, I do like 'makjang' in general so if you would like to recommend any, please feel free.
I have not watched Adamas yet because they said that the ending was open and definitely needed a season 2. I hope that you enjoyed it though.
Up to episode 4, and so far, it's entertaining but not compelling enough to pay for the advanced viewing (TVOD) episode. Perhaps later, when the story picks up more.
Seven is her usual bubbly self and plays the FL character well, but I have to admit the story became more interesting with the ML and 2FL (Lu LingLong). 2ML is handsome but boring, like the token love interest not destined to be with the FL because of their status differences. I like the FL's mother - she seems to be what the FL will be once she gains some maturity, wisdom, and humility. The brother is cute but kind of useless, more like an enabler for the FL.
I liked how intelligent and witty the leads are, but did they really have to dumb down the rest of the characters? I mean, there is a group of dye-house owners, but only the FL is smart enough to come up with plans and schemes. Even when they executed their plans, the men needed the FL to connect the dots for them, and explained their own contributions to the plan.

Can't wait to continue watching!
