Rewatching this right now and still like it~ ❤️ I don't like political and war dramas at all and usually skip or fast-forward all the political stuff, but I really don't know why it never bored me in this drama. Maybe, because I managed to understand all the strategies, hierarchies, tribes/lands and war characters in this one?
I'm an avid romance watcher and even though there is not a lot of romance here, I liked the built-up with the leads. I realized once more that I don't need skinship or kiss scenes, but a well-developed and balanced relationship is all I need sometimes :D
Am I the only who noticed that JXB's mother seemed a little bit disappointed when she found out that YNX "left…
I think Xin Bai's mother does like Nan Xing and also her together with Xin Bai. Because there was one scene where Xin Bai and Nan Xing walked side by side and his mother was smiling at them lovingly in the back ...
But the mom is still a spoiled and immature royal, so I guess she tried to punish her for "deceiving" her about the fake marriage. But when she "succeeded" to bully her out of the city, I bet she felt guilty and sad.
I know it's difficult and you have another "view" of this drama when you're a novel reader, but I comment and feel on things that JUST happened in the drama, so I don't see why novel readers try to explain things through novel scenes, when it never happened or indicated in the drama yet.
The same happened a lot when TTEOTM aired and people discussed with their novel and drama view. It can never be the same.
Pls try to understand that drama watchers won't have the same view and don't try to "novel view/opinion" on me, when it never happened or shown in the drama YET. We already know dramas will be made different, so therefore there will be different opinions on scenes and characters.
Here they seemed to have changed some things already. 20 years into marriage instead of 30 years etc. So other things can be changed too...
I know sometimes you just want to give a more in depth information, but I'm just a drama watcher and see and feel things accordingly to what they show me in the drama, so pls don't comment with your novel knowledge if it's not shown in the drama yet. Thanks :)
I get what you're saying but they made the choice not to focus too much on their back story at the start (which…
I just feel there is lack of longing between leads, while we weirdly see it more with the SML 😅 Sometimes I'm confused which love story they're trying to show, because we see a lot of Rong Qing's suffering, longing and regret than we do of Wen Xuan.
Li Rong's emotions seem more palpable. You can see she has lingering feelings. There's a clear sense of longing…
So, he did have feelings for the other girl? Well, even worse lol I thought it was a misunderstanding...
tbh ML had 20 years to clear things and even now back in the past, he doesn't change his ways. He's too proud and immature, even with him being "40 years" old. Feel like there is tons of character development needed on his part.
Ep.9... I 'm really confused which love story this drama depicts lol Because we see more of Rong Qing's suffering of one-sided love, that it's overshadowing the leads "romance". I start to feel really bad for him... It was kinda distasteful of Wen Xuan to pick him as his "best man" to pick her up during their wedding.
So, just binge-watched 7 episodes… and I’m not so sure if I like it. It’s definitely keeping my interest,…
Li Rong's emotions seem more palpable. You can see she has lingering feelings. There's a clear sense of longing from her side.
However, Wen Xuan seems indifferent. While his thoughts are supposedly caring, his demeanor doesn't reflect that. The only time I sensed any longing from him was when he first saw her after they traveled back in time. Also he never admitted that he liked her back then, because of his dignity to not surrender the royal power?! Well… sorry, but red flag moves. Back then he also didn’t care to explain what happened with Zhen, because she clearly was not his lover. He is too hard to read so far...
Even Rong Qing gets more scenes showing his growing affection for her and romantic tension, backed up with beautiful angles, music, slow-motion and dreamy eyes lol
Where's the tension between the leads? It feels like missed potential so far.
Also they’ve both admitted their past feelings and resolved most misunderstandings, so I’m not sure what to expect from the next 30 episodes in romance section… I guess them falling in love again? But I hope it’s better than the last 10 episodes, because I don’t feel it 😭💔
So, just binge-watched 7 episodes… and I’m not so sure if I like it. It’s definitely keeping my interest, but I think I was expecting more? idk...
I think, what kinda irks me and left me disappointed is the lack of emotional depth between the leads… Given their backstory, the writers could have created intense angst, tension and longing between them, but honestly? ... I don’t feel it.
How old are they supposed to be in the first episode? In the synopsis it says "30 years into their marriage"... So aren't they supposed to be 48 years old?? Couldn't they cast older actors? ._. Or they not as old as it says in the synopsis?
I absolutely loved Nan Xing's counterbacks at Suo Luo's remarks about her being an orphan or the "marry-up" for commoners! Nan Xing is smart and witty. I hope she stays that way!
Them finding out each other's secret was quite... anti-climatic. I'm not sure what I expected, maybe less comedy and more emotions sort of? None of them seemed visibly surprised. Nan Xing had her suspicions beforehand so I can understand her reaction. Also face blindness is not as unrealistic or uncommon,
However, Xin Bai's reaction to her shapeshifting was too "nonchalant" for me. He treated it as if she had merely changed her hairstyle or whatever lol... Even if it's due to his face-blindness, that he didn't have a big reaction to it. I still hoped for bit more emotions or hesitation, when he put one and one together.
Furthermore, her reaction could've been different to his easy acceptance of her shapeshifting. Imagine struggling with a secret your whole life and then someone accepts it right away after finding out... I don't know... Even if I'm not on best terms with that person, I would still feel a bit emotional or even thankful(?) for not being pushed away or seen as disgusting.
You know what I mean? Their discovery of each other's secrets could've been handled better in my opinion.

More of my thoughts in spoiler comment:
Bie Li: "It's okay. I can't smell it."
HAHAHAHAHA 😂 They've really written the best counterpart for Bie Li 😂 Dog nose and no nose couple 😂
