Great drama with a brilliant ending! While it wasn't perfect and there's always something to nitpick, I felt they did an excellent job with the conclusion. It didn't feel rushed and we got closure for every important character. The overall pacing of this drama was really good.
Although I had hoped for a "clearer" ending in episode 40, the bonus episode addressed that beautifully. Even though it was short and left me wanting more, it still provided a very satisfying ending for me.
Additionally, we got to hear their undubbed voices in the bonus episode, which was so refreshing! I loved hearing their natural voices.
Also big applause to the entire cast! Their outstanding acting brought immense value to this drama. The writing of both the protagonists and the antagonist was splendid, delivering multi-layered and complex characters. The chemistry between the leads was remarkable, with a great slow-burn romance!
The first six episodes were pretty solid :) Tbh, the whole mystery plot involving the Zornia scourge and smuggling doesn't really captivate me and I'm a bit skeptical about the shapeshifting premise. Still, I'm curious to see where it goes.
The leads are cute together, but their relationship development feels kind of rushed? They're still friends, but it's clear they've already developed feelings for each other. Their dynamic is amusing, though I don't feel much chemistry between them so far. I worry I might get bored with them in the future, but maybe I'll change my mind.
Also, finally, a drama with real voices again! C-Dramas without dubbing instantly elevate the experience for me. I've been watching C-Dramas for so many years, but dubbing still puts me off immediately π So I'm happy we have mostly no dubbing here!
I really hope he gets better roles in high-quality and proper length Cdramas in the future. His acting it too good for the mediocre dramas he's usually starring in...
I'm still really heartbroken and taken aback whenever I see articles of projects starring the late Lee Sun Kyun... Maybe if he could've hold on a little bit more. I always think of his famous phrase in "My Mister"... "μ무κ²λ μλμΌ"... "It's no big deal." If he could've felt that even more in dark times, maybe we still would have him here with us π
It's horrible how he was scrutinized by his country, the police and the media over something which was never confirmed nor backed with even remotely enough evidence. As much as I enjoy K-dramas and Korean music... no wonder young South Koreans call their country "Hell Joseon". It's a really hard country to live in...

Wan Ning is downright evil... but what happened to her in the past was absolutely horrible. It doesn't excuse her behavior at all, but made me think, that maybe she wouldn't have turned out the way she did.

Anyway, I really appreciate the writing of antagonists in this drama! They're not just evil for the sake of being evil. They are multi-layered and complex. The actings is superb as well!

That this whole drama was actually just a dream of hers and her redemption arc never happened is realistic but a hard pill to swallow. I don't know what to feel. I'm heartbroken. Everything that happened in the whole drama, actually never happened. Wow.... that's just cruel. So everyone of Hua Family died... Oh Qian Zhi π Also Hua Rong Zhou never existed to begin with. Also she never fell in love with Zhong Xiwu... but just the version, she knew of her dream. He loved her dearly, but it was a one-sided love till the end. I don't know what to feel about that. I wish I could delete the last episode from my mind.
I guess I could've lived with novel's ending better. She would not have ended up with Xiwu, but at least, all the things in the drama actually happened. I read they changed it due to censorship, but it's a really cruel ending imo.
