I just finished watching UtS2 and I really think this drama doesn’t need any (b)romance. Hopefully they don’t go in that direction in season 3. What a cliffhanger at the end! I‘m very much looking forward to season 3.

Me too, I cannot see what kind of drama this is going to be. Certainly comedy, but what kind? We‘ll see.

Nothing has been announced as far as I know.
It seems after Filter and LHF nothing will air for a long time 😢

I think the plot or genre of LHF may be more appealing to a wider audience. We will see once both have aired.

I knew that it’s based on a series of novels, but I didn’t know that the novels are so popular. Maybe if the drama had left out the romance component and just showed the political and war plot, maybe we could see it.

When can we realistically expect this drama to air? I‘m so looking forward to this.

Going into this drama I was aware it was not a love story or a classic romance. Also I think XL’s ending is fitting and I don’t have a problem with the fact that XY and XL didn’t end up together. The problems I have with this story and where I think the writer(s) betrayed the story they started is the portrayal of XY’s feelings towards XL or the lack thereof. Right from the start, even when they were still on bad terms if you could call it that, they had a connection and there was this incredible chemistry. Very soon XY seemed to be in love with XL. Even Shiqi said to her in an early episode (when they watched XL leave): “you care a lot about him”.
Also to me XY never seemed whole or really happy even with her friends around her in Quingshui town. With XL she seemed whole. The connection between them was strong and foreshadowed also in the story of the snake that was at the time the only one who could understand her. Apart from their connection and obvious feelings towards each other there was an undeniable sensual component too (CX mentioned this also to XY about the neck biting).
And then … suddenly all this vanished without reason imo. The writer forced the story in a different direction.
After removing the bug from CX, on their way back from Wushen mountain when they touched the sea anemone tower together and XY looked back up at XL her feelings were in her eyes and I’m certain had he not looked away they would have kissed. Just a few episodes later she refused XL’s kiss but kissed Tushan Jing instead. Out of the blue. I know she said XL is not the type to dream about, but she didn’t mind that just a few episodes earlier. And how if her feelings for XL were so deep was she able to immediately throw herself at TJ? From then onwards it’s basically all about TJ, she used XL/FFB several times to make TJ jealous, she trampled over XL’s feelings repeatedly but continuously made lovey eyes at TJ and they repeatedly kissed throughout the drama. In the drama she was portrayed as being in love with TJ, not just as choosing him because he’s the safe choice. That’s my biggest gripe with the drama. I wouldn’t have minded had she chosen TJ in the end for rational reasons. But how could her love and connection with XL fade so quickly to make room for TJ? After what the drama showed us in the first 13 episodes this is not credible and also nothing I wanted to see. Instead they should have kept the story from the beginning … the chemistry, the push and pull, the meaningful looks … between XY and XL. This way they still could and had to go down that route that neither ever confesses and both hide their feelings from the other, to remain true to the overall story. But they should have maintained XY’s love for XL and showed us their feelings, not just XL’s suffering. Instead they showed us XY’s love for TJ out of the blue. A deep friendship between TJ and XY would have been far more credible and TJ’s character would also have been credible if he accepted XY knowing that she chose him for friendship and rational reasons.
