It’s a very satisfying ending imo! They go to university together instead of her going alone. The ending wraps up their story in a happy and meaningful way. No need to show us their babies etc.

Well ML surname is Fang, not Feng. And he likes to splurge when possible. Also I don’t see him as someone who likes to uphold socialist values. And he is certainly not uneducated. He comes from an intellectual family, so his upbringing alone was quite different than that of most workers and he goes to university too.
