Thanks so much for writing this review. I started the drama and was going to quit right at the beginning, but because of yours and Jina's reviews I kept going. Once the conflict showed up I was hooked and ended up really enjoying it. Plus I absolutely loved Hou Dong. His character was so much fun and I loved how his character grew.
The best thing I loved was how the evil characters actually got punished when their crimes were revealed instead of them getting off and allowed to continue to make mischief. So refreshing.
Not quite as exciting of an ending as I was hoping for, but satisfied with the happiness of it. All in all a great drama with clever writing, great characters and engaging story. I wish more dramas were this much fun.
Wow, I am loving this drama! I love this trope (going into a story or game) and this delivers so many surprises. Just when you think you know what's going on they flip the script and you see what really happened.
I've only seen Gala Zhang in Insect Detective (which I thought was so good) and he's adorable here. Guo Jia Nan is one of my favorites and he's great here. His story is going just how I hoped it would. I haven't seen any of the other actors but they are all doing well.
I'm on ep 20 and starting to get nervous as I always do towards the end of dramas because so many get ruined in the last episode. I'm going to have faith in the writers who have been so clever thus far and believe they know how to satisfy us with a great ending.

Sadly clothes do seem to look better on thin people, but sometimes it's to an extreme that they don't. Costumes in ancient dramas have so many layers that it covers up a lot, but I sometimes wonder if these actors/actresses don't look emaciated without their clothes on. And I can't imagine what this does to their health.

Lots of people die from influenza or related causes. It's not another disease that could create a pandemic. It already has. It's been around since at least 1580 which was the earliest recorded flu pandemic.
Have you heard of the Spanish flu? That pandemic was from 1918-1920, infected an estimated 500 million people (one third of the world's population at the time) and killed an estimated 25–50 million people, possibly higher.
According to the World Health Organization, 290,000 to 650,000 people die of flu-related causes every year worldwide (the article says she died from pneumonia caused by influenza).

What I did find are some interesting Redditt subs where Shen Li could have a good time arguing with people who don't think ZLY is all that. (For the record I have never seen ZLY in any drama and know virtually nothing about her so have no opinion one way or the other on what she's like.)

I don't know why so many actors/actresses are so skinny. It's a really bothersome trend and sometimes I don't want to watch dramas because of it.
