I read it… no, not exactly, she basically volunteered herself when he wanted to take her sister instead, so she exchanged herself. So I was say coerced which wasn’t a good feeling, but I wouldn’t exactly call it assault…. Which after that there wasn’t really a Stockholm syndrome thing (thank goodness). neither was there abuse or continuous rape, the language used in the novel was she always had a choice… she didn’t exactly dislike him from the start although she was coerced into it the first time.
And because of that…. Even if she wanted to dislike him… or hate him… fine… at least it was something. But they ended it with….. emptiness actually…. No confrontation or closure on both men…. It basically came and left like a gust of wind and she ended up with nothing…. Only realising that she loved CWD at the end when everything was over. Sad ending is fine, but the way it ended for her on the romance side was just…… empty, like a black hole. 😒
HOWEVER, looking at the closing OST credit rolls, it looks like they changed quite a bit of that plot in the drama…. The snippets given actually looked a lot better…. At least it wasn’t written with that tenacity in the novel….

Yea true that, but the way it ended for her was so wish-washy on both men…. A little like ‘it was there but never there…. Everything came and went like the wind ‘ for both WJG and CWD. That was the bit that was a let down.

😏😏😏 wot do you think? lol. I have somewhat a similar experience… so I have my own biased answer…. I love your question though…. Coz I’ve repeatedly asked myself the same question.

The Xiao Wu thing is fine… not that… that was the ending…. Totally reasonable… and relatable…
It was the development with Chen Wen De….. he died abruptly which I thought was amazing for dramatic effects and also like “wow”… but I found it so sad…. that she never thanked him nor actually really properly conveyed how she loved him….. not even conveyed actions-wise though…. Like poor CWD….. 😒 I really didn’t understand why…. Because we are trying to encourage people taking other people for granted……? 😒😒😒 I got it that she chose to stay with him…. But why would she not……… that isn’t an action of love…. ☹️

Yea, I read it and completed it yest… thanks to the link you provided… I thought the novel ended on a weird note…. I liked the ending but didn’t really like how it progressed… was rather unsatisfying..

But the actor also kinda rough around the edges here. Lol, I totally think he also comes across as a bandit. 🤣 good call on the production team to get him to have just the right amount of facial hair.
I watching The General and I while waiting for Episode 14 to be available for me to watch. Sean Sun's He Xia is…
Totally agree. He really gives off a valiant general vibe. Although he isn’t as tall as the character in the novel… but the actor’s face is like super befitting for the character here. 😍
Shitz, I watched the closing OST credits roll… and damns, so many heart wrenching moments… all the glimpses/snippets they gave on the outline of the plot…. My heart can’t take it. Lol. I’m going to pause and wait until this finishes airing….
I wanted to drop it so bad till she went back to him then left again & I knew it was toxic gallore.🙆🏽♀️🙆🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️…
Hahah, it is very trashy though… 🤣🤣🤣 couldn’t agree more, addictive. Also mainly coz I find the FL very charming. She has a different face versus the typical/conventional 1st-line main female actresses…. I think she’s very attractive. And she can act…
It’s a low budget production, sort of tacky, very ‘makjang’ thing going on…... But damns… so far it’s pretty good/addictive. lol. Kinda too fast/quick…. So the progression feels a little uneven/abrupt at times… but totally appreciate that they want to keep this short…
The cast keeps it going…. Luckily the chemistry is good, supporting cast is acceptable (thank goodness)… damns, the kiss scenes are hot… 🤣🤓🤪
No matter how many times I look, I always see Chengi Yi with Bai Jingting here!!! The resemblance is just wow!
I thought they were the same person initially. 🤣 There is another dude that looks soooo similar to Cheng Yi as well. The ML who starred in The Blood of Youth…
I made it until Ep. 8… the beginning was super intriguing, kinda reminds me of the feeling when I started watching Goblin. I commend the efforts, was a very good idea, good setup and also good premise… BUT…. The development of the plot was….. well, it was always going to be a challenging attempt anyways….
I thought the way the background story was built and the modification from the original classic was clever + creative… however the screenwriters also kinda left out the most important theme/aspect of the original… which is the adventurous journey of the 4 main characters filled with cheeky banters, a pact they formed… they could have easily weaved it in by making them fight against evil… but 8 episodes later and I still see nothing, and it’s starting to become a little…. Confusing….? Annoying….? Lol…. Weird…? It’s easy to deduce that 20 episodes is defo way too long for the direction that they’ve adopted….
By the end of Ep. 8 I was pulled in various directions which don’t quite seem to come together… with randomness starting to creep in… I can relate to why the S.Korean viewership had a weird trend, tapering after peaking…
I swear the emperor and Hua Lui Li’s father are real life doppelgängers…. I really thought they were played by the same actor…. Had to check the cast list.
Same… really can’t. Going to pause this as much as I appreciate that they didn’t go crazy on CGI overboard……
Yea, I have no idea who the ML actor is but….. I can’t… lol. So I can tell that he should be quite a new actor…. For me it wasn’t only that… the entire cast didn’t quite come together… no idea if it’s the chemistry or the plot… I could recognise quite a few of the cast so they are not entirely green…. But there are a lot of very new faces…. (At least to me)….
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 well hope you’d at least go through the 6 episodes! Even if you need to FF 🤣

Don’t you think they look soooooo similar? I really thought he was Cheng Yi.
