People, I have a question…. (although many months later…)
Is there a reason why all C-dramas NEVER everrrr show like “real” surgery/outpatient scenes? Is it because of censorship? Like is it a hard censorship regulation or are producers just avoiding it altogether because it could be potentially be disturbing/nauseating for some viewers…..?
Think part of the reason why the series kinda lost steam as it progressed was because it didn’t have enough technical material to work on although it started off pretty technical… and of course romance was never the primary focus so 36 episodes is just way too long in that sense.
Ah, I tried that too…. But sadly the romance thing didn’t work for me.
So part of wot I meant wrt to the Medical theme being a let down is that for C-dramas it never stands as a fair/true main theme…. It’s mostly romance driven and the medical bit is very very small….. I suspect it’s coz of censorship….? Which I think is weird. So for example…. There will never be a Grey’s Anatomy.. coz I realised Mainland medical dramas don’t show the surgery/outpatient scenes…. Like I think it’s the blood….? Or the gore…..? Hence why they will never do like a real forensic science kinda series as well I think.
I was very excited for the Qin Lan’s Dr.Tang…. But sighs, I gave up in the end too coz it was 36 eps. By about 20 episodes in, I can’t even observe a surgery…. I just was lost… lol, coz that one wasn’t really romance driven. It was actually closer to Grey’s Anatomy… or Life.
Ah. I watched that… but reminded me too much of Descendants of the Sun… think I didn’t complete it, shy of 5 episodes or something, was kinda too long.
I usually refrain from posting negative comments about a drama but this drama was sending such a bad message.…
What’s up with Peng Guan Ying and all these jinxed ML characters he takes on….. I came here just to check if I should have any hope….. and ta-da… it turns out as expected…. He plays yet again another twisted ML.
It was a nice to idea to make a story about mundane, everyday life, cause that is our life. Not every love story…
Hurmmm… was looking at comments/reviews to see if I should watch this… coz the Douban score is lower than wot I expected.
Sounds like they are trying to go down the K-drama route i.e My Liberation Notes, My Mister etc… but S.Korean dramas started this genre a few yrs back. It isn’t easy to master because it kinda is very artsy, abstract blended into routine, mundanity, nothingness and all just metaphorical at times.
30 eps could defo be too long… S.Korea sticks to the 16-hour/16episodes thing mostly… which makes this 6 episodes too long… so 24 episodes would likely have been the “golden” number… not so sure if I should even attempt this now… 🤣
Eh hello! I’ve alwayssss wanted to ask about this phrase. why does she say that repeatedly? It doesn’t rhyme…
Huh, it’s symmetrical? Well more accurately it’s called a palindrome…. But even in Korean when she is saying it…. It doesn’t sound so..
Ah, yea, looking at it now properly, it is so in English though. Coz when she says it, sometimes I actually hear her pronouncing “swiss” as one of the words…
Romance aside, I really want to experience this kind of healing trip.Be in a small town close to nature, nice…
Jeju island. And Japan outskirts for sure because Japan is generally super safe… but they still don’t speak much English. S.Korea also doesn’t but Jeju island has a lot more expats and is also equally safe. Also the food and water levels are more developed and safer for travellers.
I actually thought Greece, smaller towns… would also work, but it isn’t as “safe”.
noon, racecar, kayak, and deed - that's our Woo Young Woo ❤️
Eh hello! I’ve alwayssss wanted to ask about this phrase. why does she say that repeatedly? It doesn’t rhyme neither is it symmetrical though…..? I thought about it for a long time… it’s because of how “flow-ey” the entire thing sounds? But she always says it only when she’s introducing herself…. 🤔
I teared up watching the introduction... What am I getting myself into
I cried like there was no tomorrow after my sister conned me into casually watching this series agesssss ago. She was also “kind” enough to say oh btw, it’s based on a true story. It was the first time I binged-watch something…. Way before the whole Netflix thing took over the world. 🤣 and she did that to me at 10pm or something, not only did I continuously cry for like 10 hours, I did it from dusk to sunrise.,……………. Unknowingly. Unprepared. Ambushed…
AND…. She had the audacity to ask me the next morning when she woke up and saw me like…. “Woah, wot happened to you?? Your eyes, you look like a beaten up panda bear….. did you sleep??”
Lol, to be fair I always thought he had a thing for her in the 1st episode… and I thought actually in the mortal…
But I am more of the conventional 3 arcs kinda person (Eternal Love, ELoD). I think last arc, it should converge and focus more on the main leads though…. For sure it would be heart wrenching, annoying, angst but…. Should be more on closure and about the leads.
lol, yet to be seen….. the last arc will determine if the time-travel aspect is solid + logical….

Thanks!
But I have to say I had reservations. I’ve never came across a C-drama with the Medical theme that is actually well produced/written.

Lol, I actually thought of the same thing.

😒😒😒
The SSS girl is here as well…. Interestinggggg…
