True, some of these little cultural differences aren't usually immediately apparent to those of us that aren't part of the culture. But when you find out about them, it can explain so much about why some characters are the way they are or do the things they do.

Dragons typically embody Yang energy which is quite imposing so Yun Xi is going to reflect that in the character he's playing.
Joseph Zeng's character isn't a dragon so I don't think it's exactly right to draw comparisons with Yun Xi's character since the only similarities the share is that they're both water gods. I think Joseph is playing his character in this drama exactly the way it should be.

He's not supposed to be an imposing character. He's a Yin energy water god which means he's meant to be calm, quiet and gentle.

Bai Jiusi needs to put a lot of checks and balances in his court. None of his 3 Dharma lords should be able to take drastic actions alone like what Long Yuan did unless the other two agree to it.

I think she wants him to experience exactly everything she did and if she truly died when the villagers buried her, he has to die too.
Though I don't know if total death is possible for these two. His primordial spirit might just wander for a while and find a new host until he cultivates enough energy to ascend again

You're just saying this because you have the privilege of viewing this story from an omniscient 3rd person POV because how is she supposed to consider his actions when he actively tells her lies instead of truth . She's not a mind reader!
Tbh, I think all this would have been prevented if BJS just opened up about their inability to have kids. Your wife asked you for a child, why was it so difficult to tell her that after consultation with experts, it was impossible for them to have one while they were living as mortals because it would lead to birth complications for her.
Instead, he said expressly that he didn't like kids and then probably she felt the need to conceal her pregnancy to prevent him from being unhappy. If he told her, she'd be sad about it but they'll try to avoid having children.
And then again, he stupidly tells her and makes her believe he was abandoning her because she disobeyed the rules and he was going to the Nine Heavens to absolve himself. If HRY has issues with communicating her true intentions and withholding information, it's because she's following the precedent of BJS.

Her body wasn't destroyed when the villagers buried her. After she was killed by the villagers, she went back to the Nine Heavens again, stabbed Bai Jiusi on their wedding day and then sealed him for 100 years. He broke free and they fought until he destroyed her body and that was when her primordial spirit entered Qingyue

She's Yu Zheng's artist and he's really pushing her hard so I have high hopes for her

He's so disdainful and ignorant about mortals that he couldn't recognise the uncomfortable feeling he had as hunger until his neighbour Lin Fan told him. He looked disgusted when Lin Fan touched his shoulder when he was leaving after delivering the sweets his wife made..which BJS turned down his nose on btw.

He thinks he's so rich and gave a whole tael of silver to the restaurant owner just to buy food( and he has a lot to learn about kindness because didn't even offer the starving scholar food when he could easily pay for it)
He's going to become poor so fast if he keeps spending that way and Hua Ruyue isn't going to do a thing to teach him financial literacy. I can't wait to see him kicked off his high horse.

I don't even understand why people constantly say things like this because millions of stories have been written since the world started spinning so it's impossible to have an original plotline or trope.

If they're living peacefully then that's not a tribulation. They're supposed to go to the mortal world, make hard choices and suffer and that suffering would refine their soul and help them ascend to the next level of godhood. That's what a tribulation actually is.

Because they were living peacefully for more than 60 years (judging from how old Meng Chi was) they didn't make any progress in their ascension. That's more than the average lifespan they would have lived if they sealed their powers before coming to the mortal world (and they would probably have ascended faster if they chose to do it that way because they would have actually suffered).

Their love tribulation has only just started because Bai Jiusi is tired of covering for Hua Ruyue and nothing is going to stop her from showing compassion to humans...not even her love for him.
