Amen, TWINNIE. 7/10 is probably what's my rating for Squid Game gonna be too
Same! The whole part between him and the old man was so unnecessarily tedious.

Also what was the point in even doing the whole "older brother is the frontman" storyline with Wi Ha Joon's character?? Like it had no relevance to the story other than creating superfluous mystery. Not to mention it led to NOTHING! omg

Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Hee Soon look damn good in this drama.... for once Bo Hyun plays a decent character lol (I'm…
Wdym "For once". ABH has played the archetypal good guy in most of his dramas. Itaewon Class was an outlier.

Amen! Move to Heaven and Navillera were snoozeathons. They could have made decent 2 hrs top movies but a TV series…
Agreed about Mouse.

The premise is interesting but the plot is laugh worthy. Its interpretation of psychopathy and sociopathy is awful on top of that it was worsened by one of the worst protag in recent Kdrama history (Lee Hee Joon's character) and horrible pacing.

True Beauty is basically Gangnam Beauty rehashed without any of its flair and depth.

Mdl has overrated so many dramas especially korean ones. I don't take their ratings seriously. Like every new…
Thai BLs are even more overrated here. Most Thai BLs have the production quality and filmmaking/acting talent of an underfunded high school theatre club.

I met my long lost twin!!!! Because none of these dramas were good either imo

1. Move to Heaven. I got bored mid-way through it honestly. Almost dropped it, just finished it for the same of completion. 6.5/10

2. Navillera. This was quite mediocre. I saw nothing good about this and Song Kang clearly doesn't have the acting chops to lead a story like this. Dropped it around ep 6. 5/10

3. The Devil Judge. This was a convoluted mess of god awfulness. Sorry not even Jisung could save this. 5/10

4. Doom. What can I say about this. It was like my sleeping aid. Everytime I watched it, I felt like I took my sleeping aids. I highly recommend this to insomniacs, it's 100% effective, trust me! 1/10

5. Mysterious Love. Eye candy (the ML is gorgeous!) and nothing else. Bad writing, bad production, bad everything. 3/10

And lemme add another drama to this list:

6. Squid Game. GREAT acting and great score but that's it. The drama starts off strong but becomes shallow and mediocre by the end. They tried to do a deep commentary on wealth inequality but it came off as preachy and try hard. They discard important plot elements without a thought as well and kill off characters as plot device. 7/10

Thank you for your comment. I have noticed that (scroll to the bottom), but I would not use those words... I found…
I'd use these words and worse for them because when I criticised Addicted's usage of r*pe and non-consensual advances, I've been attacked by these people. One o them even told me that r*pe is a form of showing affection. It's horrible, these mindless drones should ship themselves to a remote island and never assimilate back into civilisation ever again.

The author of Addicted in general loves to use these tropes. Her other book Advance Bravely is also very problematic and has instances of non-consensual sex and loads of harassment. She should be ashamed of herself because she glorifies and romanticises these acts rather than showing them in a negative light.

I know that the HIStory series are from Taiwan and your article was specifically about mainland C-dramas, but…
HIStory4 is horrible. One of the male lead basically drugs his step-brother and then rapes him. And the comment section rabidly defended the act saying it's not a sexual assault and blabla.

Oh girl if you think Addicted show was bad, you should read the novel. It's HORRIBLE AF.

GH basically kidnaps BLY and then r*pes him just to show his possessiveness over BLY against the latter's ex-gf. It's a horrible read.

What's disturbing about all these non-consensual BS (both in BLs and non-BLs) is that people gobble it up without questioning. For e.g if you criticise Addicted for these parts, you'll have a flock of mindless fujoshis coming up to defend it and attack you. Horrid.

Priest is another horror gem. It's not as robust as the others but there's some super smart plot elements in that distinguishes it from other shows here. Also it has such a mindbending twist that'll leave any viewer shocked.

Person Seo Ha Joon
He was a victim of revenge porn but no one even cared, instead he got cancelled. It's disgusting how his privacy was stripped off of him.

Watched first episode. A very strong pilot episode. Great performance from Han So Hee (watching her in this, it feels like she wasted her talent in the last drama she did which was nothing short of mediocre). Great art direction and cinematography as well, it's nice to see a noir Kdrama where the art direction & cinematography lives up to the genre since those two are two of the most important parts of film noir.

Also can I just say Kim Hee Soon looks so sexy in this lmao

I respect your opinion. Perhaps after watching as many dramas as I did, you will have higher standards
Popular Kdramas are usually mediocre. You need to look outside popularity.

Maybe I have watched too many kdramas and tv shows but I found this show hella predictable. Even the 'plot twists'…
It was indeed completely predictable. There was nothing unpredictable about this fr

Title Squid Game Spoiler
The performances carries the drama. The writing leaves much to be desired, the finale is especially botched because it does nothing to answer most of the prevalent mystery of the drama.

Some of the characters that are touted as crucial are discarded without much thought throughout. The worst example of this was the sudden death of Hayeon's character, which was nothing but a plot device. Another e.g would be Wi Ha Joon's unnecessary death without tying up the loose ends. None of the mystery surrounding his brother is answered either, which leaves a huge "dafuq?" in your mind.

Honestly it's nowhere near as good as some other survival games type of movie/show there are out there. The commentary on wealth disparity was nice, but they didn't know what to do with that either mid-way through and just discarded it without a thought.

I'd rate this 7/10 at best, mainly for the score and the performances.
