Tianyi Pavilion is the supporter of former Crown Prince, and now supporting Mo Jingli. The leader is Han Mingyue, who is Han Mingxi's elder brother.

I'll focus mainly on the plot elements from different perspectives.

You have completely overlooked the fact that Mo Jingli literally attempted to initiate a full blown war between 2 states. Please don't tell me it's Su Zuidie who did it. No, it's Mo Jingli who ordered it, and his people who took action. Means may be unintended, but the ultimate goal doesn't change.

You said Ye Li was concerned about Princess Lingyun. Yes, as an important political asset. Her death almost triggered a war after all. War is what she is really concerned about.

Though, everything's fair game in politics. So, I won't condem Mo Jingli actions. If he's capable, just go do it. Winner writes the history in the end after all.

I must disagree with why Prince Ding should support Prince Li by default though. What's in it for Prince Ding? Did Prince Li approach him? It takes two to tango. If Prince Li's offer align with Prince Ding's interest, may be I guess.

For Qin Cang and Lin Tinglan, I would like to look at it from a different perspective. We still don't know where Lin Tinglan's true alignment lies. But one thing for sure is that she looks down on Marquis. To me, that drunk converstaion was her trying to extricate Qin Cang from Marquis's sinking ship, because she expects the Marquis to fall sooner or later.

My preference generally leans toward slightly less busy aesthetics. So, when I'm watching dramas at two aesthetic extremes at the same time, it kind of forms a stark contrast. That's probably the reason in my case.

Exactly. Maybe this drama reminded me of how much I miss this aesthetic direction in my dramas. lol

1. I'm by no means an expert in the ancient weather forecasting topic, but based on the things I've come across in the Chinese media, ancient Chinese ppl had ways to predict weather to an extent by observing clouds, wind, and other environmental clues.

In the drama, when Ye Li did the painting, it was quite windy and the sky was not that clear. So, I can only speculate that Ye Li forecasted based on those clues.

2. This one I can connect the dots based on what's shown in the drama. Because of 2 things. Ye Li specifically mentioned she'll have to use her own ink, which implies that it's by no mean a normal ink. Then, the golden dust she applied afterward.

Since it can be replicated the same way Master Xiankun did, the 'miracle' and 'mystical' illusions crumbled. It's no longer a divine act exclusive to him. Master Xiankun's reputation was built largely on that rain summoning act after all. Since Ye Li could replicate it easily, others could do it as well.
Just like our view on mordern-day magic tricks. Once you know how it's done, it no longer feels 'magical'.

Been watching TFJ only for the last week, and now that I started other costume dramas, I found myself not able to get into those bright colours and heavy ornament stylings at all...

1. I suspect this point will be revealed in details in coming episodes. My personal opinion is that by the time he arrives to the capital, the former Emperor is already dead. So, he couldn't trust anyone and hid it first. Later let Ye Li's mom recover it and bring it to Ye Li's grandpa, to announce it to the court to exonerate him.

Su Zuidie gotta thanks Ye Li, that she got caught by the government. Otherwise, she's gonna die by Mo Jingli's hand lmao. 😂

As suspected, she went rogue with her plan targetting Ye Li.

ML gr-pe FL and got her pregnant. Then, he went abroad just like that. FL gave birth by herself, and their child had to be given up to orphanage iirc. Later, he found their child, but hide it from FL that the child is gone.

They got married later and had a few months of good time, Then, it all went downhill. He neglected her, and even cheated on her while she was pregnant. Later, FL lost her spirit and the will to live, and got into a car accident.

Master Xiankun worked for Empress Dowager.

Empress Dowager asked Master Xiankun to recruit Consort Dowager Qin to her camp.

Master Xiankun did just that via rain calling miracles and stuffs (the dragon painting thing), and asked Qin to stick with Empress Dowager since their affinity is good.

Qin listened and stayed loyal to Empress Dowager for many years until now. She had no idea about Empress Dowager and Master Xiankun.

Master Xiankun was later got rid of by the Empress Dowager as she no longer needs him 8 years ago during the Eastern Palace case.

Fast forward to present, Ye Li introduced doubts to Qin about the connection between Empress Dowager and Master Xiankun, and also proved that he was just a charlatan by replicating his miracle rain summoning dragon painting.

Now, Qin is aware that she was being used by Empress Dowager as a pawn, where for the entire time she thought they had real sisterly relationship.
