I'm not saying this is the right way of catering to the female audience but this is what most of the drama industry aka scriptwriters believe. we rarely get second female lead syndrome but we often get second male lead syndrome, why do you think that is?

Ep 29 trailer, what does Ning'er mean by 'As long as her highness can stay, we wont owe each other anything, our grudges will be cleared' ?!! what does she mean by a fresh start? what grudges are they holding on each other still. i get that Ning'er is distancing herself but why does she still think that Xie Wei is still holding a grudge on her or smth? didn't he clear things up by saying he didn't use her and in his eyes, she's different from others ?!

I love Xie Wei for this, he doesn't let his jealousy cloud his mind, or have a petty competition with Zhang Zhe with Ning'er as the bargaining chip or smth.

he's not rational but wise, full of awareness of the situation, and can read between the lines. he's very misunderstood but very convincing at the same time. he's an anti-hero but with a high EQ. if not for those unfortunate circumstances, he would've been a fine young man who's not only suitable for Ning'er but good in her eyes from the start too.

I do get what you mean by white lies. It's pretty common in asian families to treat your guest with politeness as a host even if you're inconvenient bc guests should be put in front of your needs. It might be a universal thing but i feel like western families would draw the line much earlier than asian families or they might just never bring up boundaries.

Countless times we have had guests coming to my house unannounced but letting them in was the only polite thing to do. From a chinese netizen's perspective, it would have been rude of Shi Yan to not let Shu Yi when she came to his house for a very legitimate reason even though it was unannounced.

When this is portrayed in the drama, the FL doesn't seem to have no problem with it bc pretty privilege is still a thing everywhere. when you're on the best side of the issue, humans rarely find it a problem.

But she didn't seduce him for more exclusive content. She got close to him for petty revenge but did nothing more than middle school kids' level of flirting. Plus, she came to him at night to redo the draft. That was not professional of her and him letting her in was not professional too but it was a plot device and she was trying to pursue him (for whatever reasons) outside of work hours.
