I feel that many agencies have strayed away from the variety show appearances for show promos due to the CP fan craze getting out of hand a couple of years ago. I remember a lot of CPs would go on shows like Happy Camp to promote their shows. I know I’ve been out of the loop but I but don’t see as much of that anymore. As it is, there’s already a lot of shipping for ZY/LX, CFY/ZJY just from these few lives and their natural chemistry on/off screen.
In Thai entertainment, they’d capitalize on such pairings big time from show appearances to couple CFs and multiple future dramas together. They call them koo-jin fantasy pairs.
I’ve been reading this thread off and on. It’s awesome and I do like the changes in the drama vs novel.
Yeap. The director said in the novels, they didn’t really explain the story behind GAO’s betrayal. They went from friends in part 1 to enemies in part 2. We’re able to identify with him more in the drama.

From all my drama watching I’ve found that in a lot of Asian dramas, they’ll use things like rain and sceneries of flowers blooming or birds chirping early morning to signify a couple had spent the night together. As you said, things like boiling kettle usually signifies increasing tension which I’ve seen used for passion. Looks like this viewer from Twitter watches a lot of dramas 😆
Perhaps it's just me but don't you think ZJY has this kind of "sad-eyes" thing? Her eyes are big and clear it…
IMO, LX didn’t just give a generic princess description but he was specifically describing his princess ZY. I love how both CFY and ZJY have expressive eyes.

Probably not the first night like in the novel but in those 3 years, they most likely did. Their interactions and scenes kind of implied their intimacy. It’s just not blatant since they were still in college and it wouldn’t pass censor.
The producer interview shows why this drama is a good example of novel adaptation. It filled some of the plot holes of the novel and gave us characters, to include Gao, that we can relate to.
I heard about that in Romance of Little Forest. Rebirth for You is another drama where secondary characters took over so many episodes, everyone on MDL was plotting their demise. I’ve seen it on other shows too but not as bad as that one. 🤦🏻♀️

Yeap…everyone has their own likes when it comes to dramas. I like Esther Yu but have yet to fully watch one of her shows. Same with Yang Zi and I started fully watching ZLS’s dramas when she changed direction on the characters she started taking on.
Regarding L&P natural feel…lol…the director actually filmed their natural comfort with each other. Director interview said that there were times when they started rolling the camera before they started their couple scenes while sometimes they kept the camera rolling after the actual scene ended (the cast didn’t always know when the camera was rolling). Some of the couch scenes were improve without direction from the director. This goes to show what two great actors can do. It was one of the reasons the two were cast…the director/producers knew as soon as they started the audition that CFY/ZJY were LX/ZY.

That’s not the first time I’ve seen parents react like that to depression and mental health issues. Their first instinct is to send the child away and any treatment is done in secret while the parents put up a front in the hometown. It’s sad.

Yeah…I think some people said both ML characters had similarities in attitude. For me, it really depends on how they portray the leads, especially the FL. Most of the times I can’t get into the babyish characteristics so I ffwd a lot. It took me a couple of tries to watch G0 G0 Squid because of that.

I’ve only tried it twice on iQiyi and for one show I was able to get it while the other didn’t work…found out afterwards, it was available in China only. I think some people use VPN so that they can get it anywhere.
