Yes I remember that scene. They were both business rivals and family friends. Parents compare children’s abilities and scold their children with those comparisons (happened when I was a kid). That explains his need for perfection but to fully oppress the Xiao family to that extent? The Xiao’s company depends entirely on his graces it seems and he uses it to make them do his bidding. There seems to be a lot of hate hidden there. Will see what his POV and if there is more to this backstory.
I can see how FL misunderstood because literally everyone from their high school, university, and family all thought that ML was head over heals in love with SFL and that ML got his heart broken badly. I got confused too and am waiting to see ML’s perspective since he described it as an immature crush in their adolescence and not a deep love. He seems to know that everyone misunderstood their relationship and has never cleared it up because of being sympathetic to SFL and their friendship while SFL was being manipulative the whole time because as she told FL in university, she didn’t want any of them dating each other.
It seem ML father died on episode 20. The nasty 🤮 xiao murder his father by saying his older son his lame and…
With how Zhao is acting, why do I feel that he’s their illegitimate brother or ML’s father did something that harmed his family in the past. He’s got a huge grudge against the Xiao family, especially the father. Being business rivals is one thing but having an entire family under your thumb long term is another. The Xiao family’s Company has been dependent on Zhao giving them business for a long time and the contracts are lopsided to where the advantage is always on Zhao’s side. Usually in these cases, there’s a backstory of revenge. And there’s the whole childhood comparison/competition by adults thing in their past.
Which episode did it show he proposed to her in the past? She is so manipulative even when she was young.
I’m skeptical about what was in ML’s capsule since it was Fei’er that got there first. She’s very manipulative when it comes to FL and feel that she may have switched out the paper in the capsule.
Their entire friendship has always been Fei’er being the sympathetic one and ML taking care of her while FL is the independent one. There was another drama that had a similar relationship plot. The ML realized that the whole time it was FL that he was in love with and that their youth was manipulated by the illusion that the SFL created through her manipulations because of ML’s sympathies for the weak due to guilt from childhood trauma.
(My opinion, I am not asking no one to put their two cents. Or to tell me I’m wrong. I leave comments so people…
This drama caters to a wide range of audiences and you can like whichever couple/storyline that speaks to you the most. I like all the couples because they’re different in their own ways and have their own struggles.
So Chen Fei’er chose the rich Zhao and essentially signed up to be his doll to turn into the perfect conglomerate wife and since her background is not good enough, made up everything from her hobby to her parents. 🤦🏻♀️
I have been reading comments and does this have actual cheating of the ML? I don't watch things like that so would…
No cheating. ML just sympathizes too much with SFL and it gets in the way. SFL also plays with their friendship and manipulates by always throwing her version of the past in FL face.
I’m hoping we get more development on his character and why he choose to entangle himself with SFL so much.…
From what someone said about the novel, they do break up because of SFL’s interference and FL moves on. Then ML realizes everything and works hard to get her back. However FL also made some hard, painful personal choices due to their breakup that added a bump in the road to their reunion. I’m waiting to see how they execute all this.
I’m loving the drama so far but I hope they don’t drag the live triangle out too long cause they got together…
For some reason I think the whole thing about him pursuing SFL is a perception created by SFL. She has to be the center of his world ever since high school. There was only one kdrama where the ML truly fell for the SFL before getting together with FL and that was The Thornbirds. I felt so bad for the FL but and the same time annoyed at all her self sacrificing. Glad that at least in here, FL will preserve herself if ML can’t let go of SFL no matter if she’s only a friend since SFL is delusional trouble.
Rather than a slow burn romance, this is turning out to be a slow character reveal. We're getting little bits…
I agree that it seems that FL is the one he liked this whole time but was caught up with constantly taking care of SFL cause she’s always the sympathetic while FL is always the strong, independent one. I think ML is a Captain, someone who is always a hero to the weak, and the SFL is always plays on his sympathy to keep his attention even if he doesn’t like her. This stuff always causes misunderstandings. Waiting for their full background to come out so we can understand what really happened. It seemed like in ep10, SFL messed with the FL confession thing cause it was on his phone.
Lol have you forgotten the first part of the drama where they showed how weird and quiet he was? There’s not…
I think it’s in their contract that they don’t talk about their backgrounds, jobs, etc (first ep). That’s why even with 12 divorces and court appearance, some in his court, she didn’t know he was a judge. It fits his character who takes everything literally to follow the contract to a T for 5 years until he realized his feelings. Love that they’ve seen each other on non-contract days and on her personal Sundays.
