Asian Medical Drama done right w/a healthy dose of intrigue, hospital drama and romance.
Complex but not convoluted. The production did good with the progression of the story. Plus, they provided a bit backstory for our main characters. From the prison which provided mystery and intrigue to our ML's character. ML meeting FL there while she was coping with her guilt over her fathers accident.
From being merely acquaintances/colleagues, to being friends/confidant and then finally falling in love. From almost an unrequited love to a selfless true love.
This show is really entertaining, even secondary characters looks good just like our ML and FL's on screen chemistry.
Victor Magtanggol was Thor's successor. Wah!?
To be honest, I watched the pilot episode then skipped maybe half the show. Too much filler scenes, so I watched most through the recap of the show. Then just watched full episodes of the last few parts of the show. The plot of the show is based on Thor, the Filipino take of Thor's story and his successor. Maybe it's made for the kids because I didn't enjoy this show. It's too simplistic and too redundant.
Thor was dead. VM was his successor. Loki was still crafty and crazy, beaten by VM again and again and again. Hence the redundancy. Everything is about Loki's thirst for power, and VM's journey of being the protector of worlds, no mystery at all.
If interested w/this one but don't have time or patience, watch the recap at the start
I've binge watch this show, but I've to admit, it has too much filler episodes. I think I've watch maybe only around ten whole episodes, the rest I've watched only the recap at the start of every episode. At first the concept was interesting, using some Chinese dragon luck or curse plot. Then it became tiresome with its revenge plot again and again and again. The paranormal concept was almost totally forgotten. Which is sad, because for me it was the selling point.
Acting wise, it was ok. I'm not a fan of ML and FL love story. Not because it wasn't an epic love story. It just that I think the ML is a little weak. He grew a backbone only on the latter part of the story. I like the 2nd ML. Sure it's almost an unrequited love, but at least he was honest. I mean his reaction is realistic enough to be believably effective.
If your looking for something light or easy to watch, this is for you
The show was tagged RomCom, crime/mystery drama. As far as the first four or five episodes, there's not enough romance or even comedy to talk about yet. There's a lot of mystery though, and a bit of hint of a crime. It started really really boring. I don't know what kept me from dropping the show, but I still managed to watch the whole show anyway.
There's plenty of backstory to enjoy but still not enough to explain some things in the end. Just like how our FL shared the same face with another person.
The romance part of the show is a bit scarce. But I like the comedic part and the actions scenes, I totally enjoy. Still entertaining enough to watch on your free time.
For those shippers of Ibarro-Amihan team up, this is for you.
Once you get passed the part where it's parallel with the story of the OG Encantadia series then you'll be ok with the rest. Specially with the advancement in film making, of course this one would have better visuals. The creators of the show made this one with a neater storyline. They cut short some unnecessary storyline while some are explored extensively.Just like with other fantaseryes, this too had a lot potential. Like how they introduce the chosen few to be the new protector of Encantadia. Sadly it wasn't explored enough. After watching the whole show, I felt like it was a wasted opportunity. Or maybe not, because there would be a new season this 2022.
The shippers of Ibaro-Amihan team up would also like this version a lot better than the OG.
Production was big as the story demands of it. With veteran and newbie actors who gave their roles enough justice. While with the musicality; the original music and sound scoring, I think I prefer the original OST.
I don't think I prefer this one over the OG, or vice versa. I think both has its own appeal and flaws. Both are worth watching.
Easy to watch and enjoy an almost stress-free love story
Story was simple, sweet and heart warming. It was fun and enjoyable to watch. No evil steps. No convoluted plots. It was just really enjoyable. Plus the music was an added bonus.Yes it's the typical star and a simple guy formula, not so new at all. But I found it still refreshing.
Actors did a good job with their characters. Even suppoting roles were interesting enough and joyfull to watch. The on screen chemistry of the lead actors, are really cute too.
Watched this series twice now, its still good. Rewatch value of this show is really high.
Super ambitious but draggy on some parts..
Draggy. Super draggy.Super ambitious. I thought it was about third eye, seeing ghost and the likes, but it was so much more.
From seeing ghost, to witches, to elementals, to resurrection, to plagues, to zombies. And when you thought you've seen it all, now here comes the aliens. WTF right
The ensemble of actors ranges from veteran to the young ones. They were quite good. It was challenging to watch this, as it turns so draggy I almost dropped the show.
With that said, I believe it was still worth watching..
More than just a Ghost Whisperer kind of story.
Short but really good story. Beautiful actors who can actually act. I wasn't familiar with the story of Maruja and was quite surprised with how the story progressed.I thought it was the typical horror flick, "I can see ghost" kind of thing. Just like with the story of GHOST WHISPERER. I was wrong. It was more than that.
Sure it started with a lot of cameos from ghosts who badly needed help. Our FL was plagued not only with ghost but also with mysterious dreams.
All throughout, the mysteries were the one thing that's constant. From horror/thriller, it turned into a mystery then evolved to a beautifully written love story.
This one has good ending, not a happy one but a good one. I still like it though. I like the message that despite what ever destiny's telling you, you can always still choose to do the right thing. That when a love's strong enough to withstand social status, time or even death then you should be grateful and treasure it while you still can.
Plot had a good potential but fallen a little short of expectations.
The show wanted to portray and or encourage women empowerment. Plot had a good potential but fallen a little short of expectations. Some actors were really seasoned actors with caliber acting skills, but some were a bit under seasoned. Also, some of the fight scenes were cringey.
I also don't like the fact that the lead characters can be so gullible and so easy to manipulate. The creator and writers of the show gave everyone a happy ending. It is happy ending for everyone but I don't think it's a good ending.
If I'm to rename the show, it would be "The Rabid"
Concept wasn't really new. Bunch of scientist searching for a miracle drug to cure cancer, and morons stealing the drug even if it's not yet ready or approved for human testing. Turns out, the drug had a rabid like side effects. Then it turned ridiculous. First, why would the infected be scared of water? The show attempted their own version of "The Walking Dead" post apocalyptic world ruled by the strong suppressing the weak.
To be honest, it's a bit mediocre. I've managed to finish the show only by skipping a lot, most of the time I just watched the recap before the show and if something's interesting enough then I go back to watch the whole episode. If there's none then on to the next recap.
Had a really good plot but also had a rushed ending.
This show gave a good glimpse of a life as a soldier. Their personal drama and hardships in life... Their battles to be fought as they rose to rank... Their sacrifices and their triumphs. They also provided a good drama, brothers torn by war, friendships destroyed by deception, families separated by beliefs.
At first, it's really intimidating to watch the show. Lots of good actors with lots and lots of episodes. It started good and slow, building the foundation of a soldiers life. A bit boring I almost dropped the show. If you're looking for a happy ending for the main characters, this is not for you. What the show had is a good ending, a bit rushed but still a good one.
There's nothing sweet with the first part of the story.
Sweet First Love is the title of the show but I found nothing sweet at the first part of the story. There maybe some kind of weird love in there, only it was overpowered by the dominating brotherly love shown by the ML.ML grew up with FL. FL was an orphan, her parents died on an accident. So they lived as brothers and sisters. He took care of her in his own way and help her through her traumatic experience. He also bullied her a lot. FL took care of him too, feeds him home cooked meals and puts up with a lot of his shit.
If you got fed up with the not so cute bullying, just skip to episode 16. I promise, it gets a little better after that.
A story that proves that love deserves second or third chances
Story gives so much emotions. From the typical young sweet love. Mischievous young ML had a bet with his friends, to get close to FL. Circumstances brought them together, fell in love then tragically broke apart. With all the love shown in the story comes with so much pain too. Secrets, lies and deception riddled the tale of two lovers. All could have been avoided only if they told the truth.
FL left and broke his heart. ML lost his memories and moved on with his life. And when fate decided to intervene and brought them back together, their story restarted.
A lovely story almost done in reverse.
A very long but lovely unique story. There's love at first sight. Married even before they were bf/gf. Pregnant even before getting married again.Watched this series maybe at least once a year or whenever I feel like it. But my rewatching technique's like watch the first five or six episodes, then skipped to episode 15, then another skip at episode 18. Resumed at episode 25. Then skipped some more episode just because there's too many.
Some parts of the story was really almost magical and some parts were really mundane. Imagine ML was looking for his dream girl for a long time and met her accidentally during one of his business trips. FL was a workaholic tricked by her family to have a well rested vacation. They've met by accident, sort of fall in love and married the next.
They went back home, and reality happens. The lies, the confusions, the insecurities and all the mundane stuff intrudes. With ML perseverance, they managed to be friends and eventually fall in love again.
If you have patience for a very long story like this one, I'll say it's worth it because everybody has their own happiness in the end.
Heavy on the political / hierarchical structure of Atlantika.
To be honest this one feels like a fanfiction made by those who loves Encantadia specifically those who love Amihan (Queen of Encantadia) and Ibarro/Ibrahim (King of Saphiro) to have their own happy ending. The show portrays Atlantika as a community rigid with its own customs and traditions. From succession to the throne, to arrange marriages. To making halfbreeds an outcast or throwing away the weaker twin just because they're badluck.
What I like with the show is when it comes to love, it's all out and no half measures or half ass maybe I like you. It's always absolute whether it's good or bad.
Many things were confusing in the show, not in a good way but just in a confusing way. Like the characters, were they good or evil. Or how come they didn't know who's the king's son? When even from the beginning it was a known fact that the ML was the savior and the future king of their race? Another thing was that it was mentioned that ML was supposed to find two princesses, one to kill and the other to marry. Where or when did the writers decided to add a third princess?
I wish there's also a happy ending for the other princesses. There's none, it's only for the ML and FL.
I was left with many more questions. But is the show worth watching? I guess so. Would I rewatch it? Maybe not.
