I know I just posted a heavy rant but now that I completed the series, I wanted to post a follow up comment. It wasn’t a bad series but I wouldn’t say it was absolutely out of this world amazing to me. I can be very picky when it comes to romance shows so keep in mind that this is just my opinion.
There were a few plot holes that I wish weren’t there & some of the characters actions & words annoyed me. I won’t say Pooh is a bad actor as I find that to be an unfair statement. Instead, I find Pooh’s character to be flat & probably very difficult to portray. I will say though that some of his facial expressions didn’t match the moments all the time & pulled me out of the scene. He’s young though & I know worked hard for this series, on top of already getting constant unfair hate, so I don’t want to be too critical.
I do want to give high praise to the make up department though! I finished this right before bedtime & I already know I’m going to have trouble getting to sleep when I’m done with this review lol. The soundtrack was lovely & I especially loved the song “Pray”. Gorgeous song & I already added it to the playlist! All in all, I rate the series a 7.5. It gave me a mix of Khemjira & Dare you to Death vibes for some reason. Not as amazing as Khemjira, but not nearly as bad as DYTD (I only dislike that series due to GMMTV fumbling the story so much).
Man, I hate the “wrap the case up quickly” & “let’s just say we caught the killer” crime BLs. It makes no sense to me because if the higher ups are just trying to save face & avoid backlash from the public, a heat are they gonna do when the killings keep happening & the public realize the killer wasn’t actually caught? The backlash would be much worse than if they took a little more time on getting the right person.
Especially for this one. They had all the evidence for ritual killings that happened once everyday of the week & the higher ups decided the right choice was to cut it after 2 more bodies showed up for the new start? Obviously there’s going to be more for the remaining 6 days (plus another one for the failed attempts). & guess what happens when it continues after it was announced to the public you caught the (wrong) killer? MORE BACKLASH FROM THE PUBLIC.
I get it’s for extra drama & whatnot, & maybe I’m just overthinking it way too much, but I just hate the poor critical thinking & execution of this kind of plot.
I can’t lie, this show left me pretty disappointed. Before reading the reviews, I was so confused why Doha is being chased by 3 guys. Doha has no personality & is treated like a child by everyone around him. I seriously can’t understand how this man has 3 hot dudes all goo-goo-ga-ga about him. After reading the reviews, I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one bothered by this.
Also, I was very much hoping that if Doha HAD to end up with someone, it’d be the team leader & that the best friend & barista would end up together (I’m such a sucker for enemies to lovers clichés) but of course that didn’t happen. This series didn’t make sense to me & left me so unsatisfied.
Is this that good as the rating? I didn't like the first episode that much so I am contemplating weather to watch…
If MyDramaList allowed ratings in between .0s & .5s, I’d rate it a 7.8 (but settled with 8 as my rating) I wasn’t big on the first couple episodes but I did find it more enjoyable as I continued watching. There were some things I still wasn’t completely happy with & I personally found the ending rushed, but it definitely wasn’t a bad series. It got a few big laughs out of me & I found the whole cast very charming (after I got over Thee’s extreme cheesiness & realized he’s like that in the beginning for a reason) I’d say there’s definitely no harm in trying a few more episodes to see how you feel about it.
I've only seen side couples work really well in Taiwanese so I get your rant. They always leave us wanting more…
Can you pretty PRETTY please recommend some good BLs with great side couple representation?! I’m a huuuuuge side couple wh-re & eat them up more than most main couples lol
I feel some Thai ones can do side couples justice, but Korean BLs almost never do 😭 I’ve watch some Taiwanese BLs but not a whole lot & would love so recommendations if you have any!
Man, I hate how so many Korean BLs have such underdeveloped side couple storylines! I’m a huge sucker for a good side couple but I’ve noticed many Korean BLs, as great as the main storyline usually is, they always short the side couples. They’ll tease the audience with a glimpse of possibility & then just either never go anywhere with them or just have a very unsatisfying ending for them. I mean I get that the main couple being the most developed & upfront storyline makes sense but with all that time of showing the supporting leads, only throwing in a hint of something towards the last few episodes feels so unnecessary. They definitely could have had a good storyline with them while also conveying everything they did with the main couple.
Sorry for the rant, I do like this BL, but man I wish they did more with Seungjin & Eunoh! 😭
This series wasn’t terrible but the pacing was quite confusing. I get it was lower budget, but I feel it would have been a lot better if they could have made it feel more coherent. There were times I was confused on what the timeline was supposed to be. Like, is this a flashback? Is this the same day or the next day? Is it now a week later? Many times throughout the show I felt like I couldn’t figure that out. There were some moments I found quite funny & enjoyed, but as a whole, the show fell a little flat. The main couple felt a little weird too, like I honestly can’t tell when Lee Won started to like Ji Oh. It felt like it came out of nowhere.
Every time I see your comments, it makes my day lol
I don’t agree with them all the time & every time I do see a comment from you, it’s always negative, but they’re always short & sweet & make me laugh lol
Practically every character sucked aside from Than & the doctor aunt. The series wasn’t awful, the chemistry was great & it was full of drama, but it still wasn’t groundbreaking to me.
Most of the fighting & action scenes felt like they could have been done better. It drove me nuts how terrible of a shot they all were & how in open areas with no coverage, they’d still miss their targets lol. Also, how did they NEVER run out of ammo?? Sure, they’d reload SOMETIMES, but definitely not nearly enough where it was realistic.
I hate Chet so I hate to admit it, but I did get a little invested in his “will-they-won’t-they” relationship so I definitely have some thoughts about how that ended.
All in all, this series was alright. Not very realistic & almost all the characters were terrible people. But the acting & chemistry was great. Oh, & I was to add, I watched “Love in Translation” first & kept forgetting it was the same leads. Daou & Offroad really did a phenomenal job, I did really enjoy this type of heavy series that was a lot less goofy. LIT wasn’t necessarily bad either but I feel TWG really highlighted their range & showcased their acting & chemistry much better.
Yes, the learning disability was realistically portrayed. My daughter suffers from such learning disabilities.…
I agree with this portrayal. Though not severe enough to not be able to read or write, I have dyslexia & the extreme frustration & feelings of being a disappointment to the point of wanting to give up is very relatable. It was very easy for me to empathize with his character.
ending cameos was just netflix showing off they had too much money and connections XD i was so surprised to see…
I was wondering what the point of that ending scene was lol I thought I was missing something, like they were together is some series that I hadn’t seen yet 😅
I really want to like this show but I’m struggling to really like it as much as I wish I could. I adore Dunk & truthfully never really saw it when people would call him a weak actor, but I will say this might be one of his weakest projects for me. Not that he’s a bad actor at all, but I think this role is more complex than his previous roles. I also agree with the person that said it sometimes feels like he’s overthinking too much during a scene. Some moments just come off unnaturally to me. Again, I adore him & I’ve never had an issue with any of his other roles or projects, this one just comes off stiff to me.
On top of the though, there are moments in the series itself where it feels like there are some plot holes or some things that don’t completely feel like they make sense. I absolutely love the concept but as a whole, all put together, it’s not completely capturing me the way I would like it to.
It’s because it sells. lots of people love her work,me included. They are just stories. No one is advocating…
Making novels with dark themes isn’t a bad thing but her executions are terrible & romanticizes toxic behavior. Yeah, she has many fans, which is quite worrisome if it’s impressionable young people, which I’m sure it is. Not sure why you’re defending her to me, I simply stated my opinion, that wont change. Nowhere did I say you couldn’t read her toxic mediocre books.
Just finished 10Dance & knew he looked familiar! What’s hilarious is that though I’ve seen Cherry Magic, that’s not what I instantly recognized him from. & I never watched Alice in Borderland or Glass Heart. I recognized him from Life as a Girl! I absolutely adored that series (though there were of course some flaws & it was entirely too short)
I know nothing about competitive dance so please forgive me of my ignorance if this is actually normal, but that commentator at the end had me laughing, it just felt goofy somehow. If that’s honestly how it is in dance competitions, I severely apologize for my lack of knowledge & culture. I just wasn’t expecting it & it felt out of place for me.
The movie as a whole, I enjoyed though. Again, I’m clueless about competitive dance, I only took dance one year as a teenager & was both too broke & not good enough to continue. I also never took ballroom or Latin. I feel with movies focused on sophisticated dance leaves me feeling lost, but I felt this film did really well showing the emotions I normally can’t see easily laid out.
I know there are mixed reviews but I personally found it rather beautiful. Both the main actors & female partners did an extraordinary job!
