watched till ep12 . i thought chinese drama will be aired 5 days a week. these only 3 days =( ps. without subs…
Yeah, so mamy people were focused on the korean ban, but a lot of other things were banned at the same time. I think they banned time-travel because they were scared that it may cover stories that tamper with Chinese history/culture, etc.

Not quite. I know a few lengthy dramas that are pretty flashback free, or at least with flashbacks that are used appropriately! Even the short dramas use flashbacks to draw out the drama by an episode or two! >=(

I agree. I feel like the production of costume K-dramas is probably similar to the contemporary K-dramas. But this also makes sense because some of the costume k-dramas are only 12-16 episodes long. It probably isn't practical finance-wise.

I always look for c-dramas with happy endings, but I have to admit, there something really satisfying watching a GOOD sad ending, if that makes any sense.

That doesn't count! XD Time-travel dramas are also costume dramas because the act in a historical setting after (or before) they time jump! But you're right, time travel dramas are awesome. But did you hear about the Chinese ban on time-travel aspect as well? =( At least I still have time-traveling in k-dramas...

I'm like that too, so I totally understand your struggle with idioms!

I think c-dramas are getting more and more attention and that's why they are getting larger budgets nowadays.

But truthfully, as long as they give a c-drama a good plot-line and doesn't over use flashback scenes (a legit serious problem in c-dramas), I would probably be a sucker for it. Especially if it's a costume drama, i.e. wuxia, xianxia, historical, etc.

Not all dramas air 5 days a week, it just depends on the broadcasting network. Some dramas even have irregular number of episodes airing each week.

At least we're getting 12 episodes per week.

Title Sound of the Desert Spoiler
I just finished it and it was amazing I really enjoyed it. It had me up for two nights in a row. If anyone knows…
From what I've seen, the question of which version was better is a preference thing. I think you should stick to the newer remakes, as the older ones have pretty bad cgi/video quality which may be a bit distracting/less visually appealing to new viewers. But it may also depend on language preference. Some of the older ones are in Cantonese while the newer remakes are in Mandarin.

If you don't have a language preference, for Legend of the Condor Heroes, the 2006 version (with Hu Ge) is by far the most popular. But I've seen a lot of people liking the newest version (2017), so if I were you I would choose 1 of these 2.

For Return of the Condor heroes, you should probably go for the 2006 or 2014 remakes. Personally, I enjoyed watching the story of the 2014 remake better, but the 2006 has great cinematography/visuals.

For The Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre, I recommend the 2002 version. But as I haven't watched the 2009 version I don't really know which one's "better". This third of the trilogy is usually overlooked and not as popular, so the cinematography/quality is not as high-scale as the first 2 of the the trilogy.

To be honest though, a lot of the talk about which one is better is mainly bias for nostalgia or bias against the actors and not the actual story. I think no matter which version you choose, you would probably enjoy the storyline.

The Tencent YT Channel just set all the episodes to private. Does anyone know why? They did this to a lot of their other dramas as well.

EDIT: They've uploaded season 2 on YouTube.

I saw that someone submitted the subs for episode 9 of The Fox's Summer.

Also, I'm working on subbing the 1st episode of Suddenly Seventeen, though it'll probably take me awhile...

How did you watch Suddenly Seventeen? Did you just watch it raw and guess what was happening?

Also, I hope Tencent subs the rest of the episodes because it's unlikely that there will be fansubs cause Tencent is super strict/active on their copyright stuff. Maybe someone will add cc to the remaining videos on YouTube.
