Since I can't find English subtitles for this anywhere, can anyone tell me if you've watched it, if…
Ah, I see. Thanks for the info! =) Then it really might not have a happy ending. Maybe they'll make a fictional ending?
I thought you were talking about more political/war stuff.
can someone explain to me why tv version n eng sub version are different? (read from the comments below). and…
Totally understand what you mean! But Mandarin isn't my native Chinese dialect, so sometimes when they speak with tons of historical/philosophical terms, I end up a bit lost! XD
Most of us here is crazily in love with this drama...some are shipping YX to X and the others are shipping X to…
Me too! I been bubble wrapping my heart and steel caging it to keep YX out since the beginning to try and avoid 2nd lead syndrome. It's not working very well... YX why do you have to be such a nice guy!
next week episodes look so good. Now the wait begins :((
I wonder how the old shopkeeper guy from the (latest episode and newest preview) is related to Feng Yun Ling? Like why is he so adamant in finding out what she knows about Feng Yun Ling? I like him because he's a blunt and funny character, but if he turns out to be an enemy of Xing Er...
I need to understand why they keep remaking this drama ~ is it THAT good? Like what's up!?
The trilogy is a classic. There's a lot of martial arts references in different movies/novels that refer to the martial arts written in these three stories.
It is definitely a good drama to watch... probably a must-watch if you're into wuxia. Just don't really know if it's so good that it warrants so many versions to be made.
Though I do have to say, each version has it's own style, so some people may find that they like one version and not another. So maybe it's a good thing that they have so many versions? The new remakes just end up on my to-watch list and I eventually watch them when I run out of good costume dramas to watch...

NP!
The challenge of chasing dramas! I don't think I could do that... usually I just binge watch dramas! You're lucky that C-dramas air so often! (Or maybe not so lucky since you're following so many of them!) XD
Any Chinese history buffs know approximately what time range this drama took place?
I actually thought it as during the Sixteen Kingdoms period, because Northern Yan doesn't really survive into the Northern and Southern dynasties period, (but maybe that's why it's a tributary state in the drama?)
I love dramas/stories set in fictional times because there's so much freedom for the story to evolve, but sometimes it makes my head hurt trying to understand the politics and relationship between the different dynasties and states in the dramas because they don't exactly follow history.
Can I just say how much I love this drama?! I haven't felt like that watching a Chinese drama for quite some…
Ahhh, I see.
Yes, I agree. I can't wait to see them together! >.<
But I wonder how they're going to squeeze this long story into 2 hours... Maybe they will follow the book's timeline instead of going chronologically like the drama.

I thought that the message was about Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba's father and that's why Xing Er ended up living with them, but I guess not.
Now I'm wondering who exactly Xing Er's people are, because she has fought with both people from Liang AND Western Wei, and she is somehow connected to Northern Yan. Such a mysterious lady! XD

Actually, I watched the first 5-6~ish episodes of both versions side by side (cause I was curious! XD) and there was not really any scenes that were taken out... The only difference that I found was that the length of the episodes were slightly different, with the exception of the 1st episode where the TV/advanced version was 50 minutes long and didn't have any opening/ending credits. This is why the TV/advanced version is ahead of the uncut version right now...

The drama hasn't ended yet so I don't know if it is a happy ending or not... But if I had to guess, I would assume that it is a happy ending. There aren't that many characteristic of a tragic drama, at least not yet (only 18 episodes left to go!) And it has a very happy ending sort of style to it so far, if that makes any sense?
I thought you were talking about more political/war stuff.
You too! =)

By how things are progressing, I think that it's quite possible for it to have a 2nd season...

Also, any idea who the 乌先生 from Northern Yan mentioned in the preview is? Is Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba from Northern Yan?

It's too bad no one is subbing the episodes. I thought it would be subbed for sure because it was uploaded on Croton's channel.
