whaaaaaaat? I was so looking forward to this because I have read the manga, but it's set in current time?…
After reading the manhwa, I think the modern setting might be used for the mortal world? I.e. costume/palace setting in the water palace and modern setting for mortal realm.
Is anyone frustrated with the acting? I find it's sub-par, especially after watching Eternal Love.
I just find it very emotionless... thought I don't know if that is on purpose, or if it is bad acting. Probably have to watch more episodes to find out.
For people who are complaining about the dubbing, it's because they had to change the lines due to plagiarism…
Thanks! I knew that it was based on a novel, just not that the novel is an online one. It's surprising that once the online novels got more recognition and published in physical book form, they didn't do massive re-editing. From reading English online novels/stories, I usually see the authors doing massive editing once they get a publisher interested in their story.
Probably. At least they have more time to digitally edit or re-dub an entire sentence to make it less noticeable that it was fixed up.
The production is sadly very inconsistent with awkward green screen. It's feels and looks like a typical…
But non of it's xianxia so far... Xianxia is a genre which involves some sort "immortal" aspect. None of the characters are gods, demons, or even spirits. It probably more wuxia than xianxia because of the martial arts.
Also, the war stuff probably comes afterwards, when all the chess pieces are in place. It's a 70 episode drama and we're only 6 episodes in, so it's probably too early to decide whether or not the trailer was misleading.
I agree with the green screen. Chinese dramas have pretty bad green screen effects. Sometimes I even prefer the 90's animation and props they used to use in the xianxia/wuxia dramas, over the green screen. (Maybe it's just a tolerance for the 90's effects because I know that they are older... I don't know.)
