The drama differs a lot from the novel. Novel is happy. I expect this to be a happy ending but 🤷‍♀️

I like it too and have watched it a couple times but my fave is probably Ancient Love Poetry which shares so similar vibes to EL 🙂

I think so basically MZY is pretty much as Kai is portraying him. He is head over heels for WZ from the moment he first set eyes on her. He proposes marriage before they even meet. She decides to check him out in her cat form and finds him different from other men so she starts taking him out and finds him quite cute. She teases him a lot and he’s a love sick puppy. No really gratuitous scenes tho if that’s what your looking for lol

His character in the book only appears about 3 times and he mostly tries to avoid Wu Zhen so they’ve basically had to make up a very thin back story for him.

It’s like cute stories of their daily life. I just read it over the weekend, so it’s fun to read it along side the drama airing. A lot of things that happen in the book are in the drama just out of order or a little bit different to how it happens in the book.

In the book there is a kinda demon thing that did kill his parents and it comes for him when he and Wu Zhen are out of Chang’an searching for the missing Pei Jiya who switched their bodies. It should be the equivalent of this plot point in the drama. The demon thing wants a box that MZY possesses after his father dies and kidnaps Wu Zhen to force him. The box contains the body of the first Cat Master and it possesses Wu Zhen and helps defeat the demon. MZY gets injured and stuck in a dream state. Wu Zhen enters his dream with the help of MZY shifu and wake him up.

There is no core in the book. Nothing bad at all happens in the book.

Everyone is acting like this drama is a flop and has gone terribly sideways.
There are parts I’m annoyed with but overall I still enjoy the drama. It’s visually beautiful,
I love Mei Zhuyu, It’s got comedy, angst, sexy romancing. Just enjoy the ride.

Yeah I’ve never followed a drama on MDL before where people are so obsessed w the heat index. Like what’s to be worried about. Clearly
Tencent is suppressing it anyways so why worry. Kai hit 100 mill character popularity. That speaks for itself.

It’s not just the writer. The editors as well. They are the ones who take the raw footage and put the story together. They choose to cut scenes and keep scenes.

Yes, I do feel like she is pushing him away but at least say logical things when doing so! I haaaaaaaaaaate this thing in c dramas they always do this is drives me bananas. I’ll still keep watching tho 😅
