The only thing different about her is she’s the Cat Lord and needs to manage the Demon Market. He will go and help her do tasks. They have no conflicts between them in the novel. From time to time some demon or her cousin stir up trouble but that’s all. They have a happy life.

I think Kai is just fine in this role. He portrays MZY pretty close to how he is in the book. I do agree about the chemistry thing tho. I know everyone will argue with me but, for example, usually Kai kissing scenes are very good but I’m not feeling them in this drama. Maybe it’s the way the director shot them and posed them but something just isn’t working for me. 🤷♀️

In the book the Changxi palace crew have taken celibacy vow and abstain from alcohol. MZY was the equivalent of an outer disciple who was a once in a century talent. He was never meant to stay in Changxi palace much to his shifus dismay. So they made some small changes to this in the show for drama I guess

No it was filmed in late 2020 so after his 227 incident. I understand it but the drama def suffered. The bigger issue is that c ent is just like this. All about money and not quality . When I watch a dram w Xu Kai as first billed I expect to see Xu Kai in 90% of the scenes (or whoever I’m watching the drama for) ugh I have such a love/hate relationship w c ent 😅
