Jing is a 9 tailed fox and XL is a 9 headed snake. I look at it as teamwork of 2 mystical beast beings who have vastly different personalities but both love XY dearly.
Assassination Attempt Teamwork: Jing protected XY's physical body, XL worked on the spiritual aspect of XY and brought her back to life using one of his lives. If Jing did not protect XY's physical body, her soul would have no physical body to return to. Yes, XL did a lot of heavy lifting, but Jing's physical health and spiritual powers were greatly weakened and limited ever since the time Hou tortured him to near death. We will never know what Jing could have done if he was still in his prime.
Crashing the Wedding Teamwork: Jing offered to pay XL to crash the wedding, but XL has free will, he could have said no. He accepted the mission because he could feel with certainty (via the bugs) that XY was not happy to marry FL. But being the rockstar he is, I guess XL could not help but make a grand entrance to crash the wedding. I loved that scene, just too cool. Jing panicking and about to attempt to stop the wedding himself was cute and hilarious. I was thinking if Jing did attempt to stop the wedding himself, XL would not only have to drag XY out but also carry Jing out after sickly Jing coughs up blood and faints. LOL
Unable to get rid of Hou Jing's kindness is a part of his character which at times is a weakness, like when it came to getting rid of Hou and fighting for his own happiness. This kindness feature is what makes Jing, Jing. Jing did say he is selfish, but if it's about ending someone or being cruel, he cannot do it. And I am glad he is being selfish about XY, he should have been more selfish in S1 and kept his promises to XY.
Jing's Broken Promises For this, I have to say he did not fight hard enough for his happiness. I wished he had just eloped with XY. But even though he is not a King, Jing is chief to be of his clan. As we saw with CX, being at the pinnacle, he has no say in his marriage and has to appease the various fractions in the TS clan. He is a very filial grandson and to not show respect to his elder's wish would be unthinkable.
And lastly, XL in his heart knows he cannot be with XY and seeks the best person to be with XY, to care for her and make her happy. I think we can say XL approves of Jing being that person to be there in his stead, otherwise he would not have given up 1 life for Jing. He would have made sure Jing stayed dead and CX gets a chance with XY. 🐍👍🤝🦊🌸 LOL
I love how TSH asks for a "fair fight" knowing damn well he damaged Jing's spirit power. Jajajaja
I demand that Hou be Ramsay Bolton-ed to appease our disgust and anger.
