I think this is the whole point of the story, of the three guys (Cui Liang also likes her…) she picks the most unlikely, because this is what love does.

Before he can make amends she is kidnapped by the ML and her feelings for him go from Stockholm syndrome to pity, to love. Jeremy’s character has no choice but to accept it and suffer in silence.

This seems to be the reason behind at least 80% of C-dramas with a weak/confused plot. There is no respect for the source material or its readers. If scriptwriters thinks their “ideas” (mostly worn-out tropes and cliches) are so great, why don’t they write their own original script?
