Only on ep2 but someone mentioned that the ML looked like he had a lot of work done and now I canβt unsee it.…
It may be wise not to believe in all the rumours that run on the internet... He looks the same as always, I cannot detect any signs of plastic surgery, but the make-up in this series is a bit strange and quite frankly, looks amateurish.
By episode 17 this is definitely getting better and better! In her second life the FL is a lot more pleasant, it feels like the actress was more at ease playing a "normal" woman (who wouldn't be?).
The plot thickens... the Scorpion King (also known as Mu Yu...) is up to something and it's not good.
I think the make-up department for this drama was run by trainees, though. In that close-up shot of the ML in episode 16 the face-powder was so visible! Also, in many other shots (of various people) the skin tone of face and neck doesn't match at all. Every teenager knows how to fade out foundation, why don't the immortals?
Depends on your standards. Lower your expectations to avoid disappointment lol. If you can't stand the baby girl…
I don't know what you didn't like about Immortal Samsara (I didn't watch it) but here the ML is definitely in another league than IS, so I have faith that it will be worth getting through those first few episodes with the annoying FL.
Is this very common in C-dramas? I hear this complaint a lot that - "FL is so annoying I can't stand the FL".…
It's due to the inherent sexism of the writers/directors/producers of Xianxia. They seem still very attached to the old Confucianism...
So women have to cute decorations with the mental ability of 5-year-olds who keep stumbling over their own feet, permanently have to be saved by the hero, show obsessive/delusional behaviour if they like someone who doesn't like them, can never take the initiative when it comes to relationships and speak in cutsy annoying baby-voices.
Even if the underlying novel portrayed a different type of female character, they will still re-write it to fit the ol' stereotypes, which then causes problems with the plot as the FL's actions become incoherent.

Nice! But YF's face looks so pale... did they overdo the make-up or is there a reason?
For those who can't wait, here is the link for Chong Zi novel in Englishhttps://nadalestalagi.blogspot.com/2022/12/chong-zi-by-shu-ke.htmlHappy…
I don't know if this is your translation, but whoever did it might want to clean it up a bit before inviting people to read it. Hint: Boy = he/him/his and girl = she/her Also, "berkata", "mengganguk", etc. aren't words found in the English language.
It "annoys" me when people criticize others for making comments about disliking the main actress. This attitude…
It always depends on how and what you critisise. Everybody has the right to not like someone's acting and/or face or the plot of a drama. That's what I would consider a legitimate point of view. If people start throwing insults or cannot separate the actor (especially one playing the villain) from the role or post the same negative comments every day, that's no longer just a point of view. Producers should focus on acting capabilities of the actors instead of catering to the fan-girls of some popular pretty boys, though. Otherwise the quality of dramas will just go downhill very fast...
It takes time to develop... In he first few episodes you have an annoyingly childish FL and a stoic ML who barely speaks. There are some interesting side characters to keep you interested, though. The FL/ML interacting It gets better from episode 13 onwards and then quickly becomes very dramatic.
That's his role in it, perhaps he's just not your type of an actor. For me, he's one of the best chinese actors…
I agree, he is also one of the most underrated actors. Sadly due to the way the role is written in these first few episodes we don't get to see any of this acting prowess which is disappointing. I guess/hope he will make up for it in some of the later episodes.
I like Jeremy Tsui, but I'm not feeling this drama. I felt more emotional investment for the mediocre Novoland…
We're not even half-way through the drama... so give it some time. This one is different from Novoland in that he didn't get to do much acting in the first 12 episodes. It almost feels like a non-speaking role π
While everyone (including JT) seems to scream "oh, how could he do this?" I kind of understand why the ML had…
Yes, so did I. this tragic scene reminded me of the beautiful lines by Oscar Wilde (from The Ballad of Reading Gaol): Yet each man kills the thing he loves, By each let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!
I haven't read the novel/book, but from reading here and there, sounds like the story is similar to Love and Destiny?
I'd say there are some very very remote similarities... in that the FL has a demonic part and the ML as "god of war" for the immortal clan had to kill her. Otherwise, the setting, characters and relationships are quite different. In L&D the suffering of the FL/ML mainly came from a series of misunderstandings whereas in this one it comes from circumstances.
What kind of sick bustard is this ML.... what dose he think, that chong zi is his pet or something !!! he is the…
There wasn't much he could have done to help his friend after he became possessed by the sword. It all comes down to the philosophical point of view that everyone has their own destiny and there is only so much you can do for a person who as gone down the wrong path. Some people can't be helped until they actually hit rock-bottom.
He looks the same as always, I cannot detect any signs of plastic surgery, but the make-up in this series is a bit strange and quite frankly, looks amateurish.
JT looks so boring in white!

What is this? Self-parody???
Here's a though, maybe China could consider a ban on banning things... π
