Taehyun, our little innocent cinnamonroll, was the only who had no greed in the show. Very ironic. His mom who feared Dongju's rise to power and how he would swallow up her son.... In the end, he didn't swallow your son, he saved him. Your greed and everyone else greed, swallowed him. All the hatred for Dongju is misplaced.
The execution of this drama is getting me annoyed. I liked and hated the ending. I liked what he did to Jangseon but I hate the fact they are eluding to season 2. Dongju as the episode went by really buried his own heart. He feels empty, like a shell of his former self. He needs to be away from this company and family yet they dragging him back in.
As for Eunnam, fuck the writers for this. Her writing have been nothing but shitty. Trying to give her some sort of redemption by giving her a ring, and possibility rekindle their love story maybe in season 2 (which is funny because it's either they will get back together or she will be targeted/killed because she have the vault code to develop the male character) Either way, none of the "writing" for her is going to save her character. She is not fit for Dongju anymore. The moment she believed Dongju will kill is the moment she no longer understood Dongju. Let this romance GO! Everything about her writing was just misogyny because the writer reduced her character so much, it's not entertaining.
I'm currently watching this slowly and I'm on ep 7, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it.
Although I have to say, so far, I know the male lead is going to get his revenge but I find it fascinating that he is calm and very soft spoken but you know, deep down, he is ANGRY. The actor did an amazing job. I can feel how he is boiling inside in rage but visually, he is smiling slightly, speaking appropriately, he is accepting all of the crap and bullshit they are throwing at him, it seems normal. Great acting skills.
She seemed like such a nice person when she ran the pastry shop!! Did the lure of money change her that much?…
Not sure if you seen the latest episode (13-14) but there was a scene where she wanted him completely excluded from the shares of Daesan Energy It was hinting she is seeing him as a threat and she was using Ildo's shitty wife to achieve that.
While we wait for the episode, I need to complain about that bitch ass chairman and his wife. Like after everything Dongju did for you, after he went UP AND ABOVE to ensure your son gets to be part of the succession plan... And basically used his wits and schemed to get everyone to SUBMIT, they just decided to get rid of him too?
I guess this what happens when you are too smart, resourceful, and can get anyone to bend their knees when they test you, even your own allies fear you. They worry that if you wished, you can will it. They are afraid that he would want the position and they know he CAN get it. They stop seeing him as a person and only see him as a reflection of their greed. Dongju really never misses with his threats. He brought that son out and showed them how much CONTROL he had on him.
Please bury that romance to depth of that heart as promised in the title because why was the writer writing like a mangaka? Out of nowhere they pulled up that worst plot twist that I knew was not true. I rolled my eyes so bad like nobody was shocked. We already hated the romance but the author wanted us to be disgusted too? Put that pen down and focus on the developing the side characters instead.
chairman cha has 2 daughters, one of them married to dr kang and the other, deokhui married to ildo, with whom…
He did not... Yet(?) I'm hoping they never do and based on the way the male lead is no longer fighting so strongly to have her love and care anymore, I'm hoping that's what it is leading up too but you never know.
I'm finally up to date... Oh my god, I cried so much at episode 13. The scene when he locked himself up for am entire week and they had a conversation...the entirety of it I was crying. Seo Dongju... He is the kindest person in the entire show. The irony of it. Despite everything that happened to him... My heart cries out for him the most. My heart is bleeding for him. All of the brave font, he is willing to overlook the many mistakes that were made and yet... Yet.. this is the WORST family ever.
I think I need to say it... I really need to say it but Huh IIdo is my favourite character in this show. It's the way he is acting the most oppressed while committing henious crime is cracking me up. He keeps pulling the puppy dog eyes, like he is pouting, it's getting to me. The most pathetic character in the entire show. When his wife let out the most frustrated cry because of him, that made me laugh. He have no backbone, no personality. STAND UP SIR! Always living as everyone's SHADOW But that what makes him great. He is so pitiful, it's making him a great character for me.
To give him a little bit of defence, he been abused for so long he doesn't know how to get out. He is the victim who can't leave the abuser and in return, becomes the abuser in way. He been trained to be that loyal dog but deep inside, the ambition to always be the leader, the one above, still lived in him no matter what. So he is a strange combination of extremely ambitious to be the leader, at the same time, an extreme follower. He is at the two extreme end of each side of the coin. I'm hoping the last 4 episodes does something more to his character because it would be a shame to keep him the same from start to finish.
Oh my, oh my. When he put everyone in their place. They all talking so much shit but can't back it up lmfao he ate that confrontation and when he called out the female lead. It wasn't even anything grand tbh it was so minor but it needed to be said. People are USING HER to harm him and the ones around him... Unfortunately, she is not the great villain I want her to be but the pathetic version. The writer had a chance to redeem her a little with the cookies but naaah, writer didn't want to give her any value.
You are yet to get the full measure of the FL character - thoroughly unlikable and completely useless to the drama…
You said it all. Everything that needed to be said and more. I think what's crazy is that she will not overshadow the male lead but actually add spice to the story if she was ruthless and ambitious for her goals. The story would be much more entertaining if they also included his revenge ON HER with another love interest that is initially using and whether he starts liking the new love interest or not, is up to the author but the suspension will have people tune in more to see how it will conclude.
This is why I said you can tell when the writer is a woman because she left him after 8 YEARS but for some reason he still simps for her? Not to say that women can't write amazing stories because they absolutely can but this writer definitely the type to believe that a man will always "love" a woman no matter how much she betrays him and this is a "loyal" man and I can't imagine a male author ever giving women this much grace and loyalty when she stabs him in the back.
I couldn’t agree more. There should have been zero romance in this series. She cheated on him and had every…
Seriously, no personality at all. She betrayed him because she never believed in him or his status even though she knew, if she married him, he would be in a better position and could be eligible for vice-president or a position lower than that. In the end, he didn't need her petty help. He is so reliable and resources, he can get there himself but the risks are huge. Everyone else, EXCEPT HER, knows that and that's why they trying get rid of him. That's why I stay not liking her.
Tell me why the female lead is pissing me off so much? Another one of those shows were the romance is really not needed. It's kinda crazy that you can just tell when the writer is a woman because no, why would anyone throw their whole life for a woman who betrays you AND can't commit to it? If you are going to betray your man for shares, stand on business with it? You preferred the shares over him? Stick with it.
The scene were she cried because she returned home instead of getting to meet him knowing his life is ALWAYS at risk while she faces zero consequences and risks... The scene where she left her phone on her bed so ANYONE who enters can find it... Like if you going to be doing this move, at least be smart with it. I would have not be so annoyed if she had SOME common sense. I usually like female characters with multiple layers but this... Throw the whole character away. The moment her grandpa denied her those shares, she should have known how to forcibly get those shares at ANY means. Be wicked, be villainous. Yet...
Took a break to getting over my annoyance with the male lead and it worked. Idgaf about his explanation because I already knew all about his excuses already. There is always a reason behind his "actions" he just doesn't give a fuck to communicate it. I already know his song and I hate it because that builds ZERO trust. It's him carrying her out while she is holding her hairpin that gagged me lmao. BUT It's going to take more than that to redeem his character for me because he is such a mediocre character so far.
And as usual, the mess never ends. I was hoping to get a team up with the evil STEP mom because honestly? The women in this show been PULLING THEIR WEIGHT. The women are carrying the plot on their back and are making it so good DESPITE the toxicity from them. The men are doing NOTHING here for me but unfortunately, this episode ruined my hopes. I guess the revenge will have to go all the way in.
I finally finished it. I would say the romance was the best aspect of this show. At first, I was on the fence because he fell too fast and I don't like romance where the "love" have no proper set-up but they somehow made it work. It got better the more it advanced.
I have to say though, the plot is very weak. You have to be someone who appreciates fast storytelling and not enough time to "process" what's going on. The second half is definitely better than the first half. I liked the brother side storyline at the start then I would say the last 15 episodes were better. Political tension always make for a better storyline but it still was weak. It's not heavy and very surface level politics and villains. It's not deep. This is for the average viewer.

The male lead is so exhausting, I'm getting tired of seeing his face.
