I loved it.
The baseball games are a mess, the romance is cliché, and the story is predictable… But it is SO charming.

I'm not a fan of the adults storyline except when there's Teacher Bai (best sidekick ever) or the little girl in the scenes. Tao Xi and An Mi are cute, but there is really so little to do with them, even though thy have so much screentime, at least the boys storyline always had new characters and new stories, but the adult storyline felt looooooong… Way too long.

But I came to this drama for the TFBOYS, and that's the quality I got. Their bromance is everything, their relationship with the members of the baseball team, their classmates, and the adults were the best part of the show. We got 3 amazingly cliché characters, with a charming twist : the calm perfect student is a fox in disguise (<3) and always trying to help, the rude tsundere is still an extremely hardworking, professional, and can let go of his pride to help people, and the energic idiot is…. still an energic idiot, but a more mature one than I thought.

If you came to this drama for the bromance like me, you'll like it.
If you came for the TFBOYS you'll love it, too. They are great, and I love their friendship, especially Wu Tong and Yin Ke, their past together, the way they look out for Xiao Song , and when they don't need words to understand each others.

If you came for the sports, or the romance, you can go, lol. The sport is a nice element to the story, but if you know a little about baseball, you will be desperate in front of all the WTF of this drama. It's still really charming when you ignore it. The romance is really meh, but the characters are cute.

I saw the first 12 episodes on YouTube and its really really good. Plus, the good translation help, too. It's been a while since I saw such a good translation on "modern time" chinese dramas (and not only historical ones).

From the trailer, it seems that it's the story of Iwai, an ex-prosecutor who became a lawyer after an incident with a politician he couldn't catch. One day, a young man comes at his door, saying that he's getting death letters, and that someone tried to push him under a moving train.
He is Tag, a popular Youtuber, and will assist Iwai with his cases, forming a duo that help solves incidents linked to the internet.
Iwai will also discovers that Tag is the son of the politician he couldn't catch. Why did Tag came to Iwai for help? And who is the one trying to kill him?

Idk what to think about the first episode. At first I was excited to watch it because of the original concept, but the first episode was… surprising.
I was excepting to find the students and their studies a lot more interesting than the teacher, who seemed boring, but it wasn't like that.


I find it funny, seeing host and cabaret classes, until I discover the 2 others classes : prostitute and manager. One is girl only and one is guy only. What the fuck? It was like a cold shower.
At least host is more or less equal to cabaret girl, but manager is only a guy job and prostitue is only a girl job? Was it supposed to be a joke or...?

Wow, I though it was gonna be a funny story but based on the trailer, it seems it will be very touching.
I love how they're describing it as a "love" story between the two, but what kind of love, we'll see…

My favorite movie of this trilogy! :)

My favorite character is Taichi , because he is the most complex of all, in the manga at least. The characterization is a lot more interesting in the manga, of course, and everything is very simplified in the movies, but I liked it a lot.

Even if the story isn't the same, the movies are a great adaptation ! The atmosphere, the characters, the visuals are very respectful of the manga.

This movie is the best, in my opinion, because of the relationship between Taichi and Suo, with is the best thing the manga has done. I love them, the dialogues, the way the developed SO MUCH thanks to each others. I love this friendship, especially in the events "after" this movie (even though the movie doesn't follow the manga's storyline).

Definitely isn't the perfect drama but very enjoyable. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman myself but I loved this main character. She's incredibly messed up, and made the life of a lot of men miserable bit I loved her.

The male one is a mess, lol, obviously it's done by people who didn't try to do research about japanese celebrities...

You're talking like what you're saying isn't obvious.

It's a basic knowledge that China has a lot of people, and that their cinema industry is massive. Especially on an Asian site like MyDramaList, where people (just a little) interested in Asian cinema.

As a non-chinese person, who's living in a not-so-big country, who's not used to such massive amount of money for movies, I'm saying that those numbers are crazy high, and I'm impressed.

I know that you didn't understand what I was saying, and you though I was saying that China is a better country than others or something like that but no : I knew that those numbers are here because of the population, not because they make better movies, or people go to the theatre more. Doesn't change that those numbers are impressive, like China's population is impressive, or the numbers of votes on Idol producer was impressive...

I know, and it doesn't change the fact that those numbers are impressive…

Main Character ^^

Its slow... I really want to like it because the visuals are AMAZING, but I'm getting really bored in front of my screen. I know a lot of Chinese period drama are like that, but this one is just... too much. The episodes are 45 minutes but it feels like 1H30...

I really want to enjoy it... T^T

Well, it's not like Mandopop needs international popularity to do very well. ^^'

They're so many, that they don't do any work to be popular outside of China.
It's like for the MMORPGs, even if a game is a huge success in China, they won't try to sell the rights, or translate it, because they don't need it.

Same for movies & dramas, they don't try to do some promotions internationally.
It's a nightmare for all the international fans that can't speak chinese T^T (because there's not as much fansub as K-pop or K-dramas).

Chinese productions just don't care about the outside world, they make enough money just with China T^T

(this is not a message to the author of this post, just a rant XD)

I always find it so sad that people discovered YamaKen through shojo adaptations. He began his career with small roles, mainly in thriller/police/mystery drama, and one of his first movie role is a murderer (I won't say which one because spoil ;)...
His best film is also one of his first : Control Tower.
And people are always saying he never did anything except shojo... Without even trying to search his filmography...

The first time I saw him was in Yowakutemo Katemasu (2014) as an extremely shy baseball club captain, then I watched his works from the beginning (2010) and was so surprised when his first drama role was a kid with serious anger management issues (I was used to the shy one, not the weird one) XD

But after the success of LDK they were making him film shojo after shojo, and his fans (the ones that follows him since his pre-shojo-era) are worried it's really ruining his skills. Even if you can give a performance with a shojo adaptation (Your Lie In April, Orange) or you can play very different characters (Black Prince & Wolf Girl =/= One Week Friend =/= Your Lie In April) it's still very "safe zone", and a lot don't really require a lot of acting chops.

I really hope he can escapes from all that and return to his career roots T^T
And he really began having more "not shojo" freedom : Rikuou, Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K, and now A Forest Of Wood And Steel !!

PLEASE, let him continue like that, don't let him fall into the shojo world again. He's a really gifted actor, but shojo don't permit him to grow as an actor T^T

Arata Mackenyu is good, too (and SO handsome). He doesn't have a lot of experience, but he never disappointed me.
Mugi is already a very good actress, she's more onto the "serious" world of Japanese cinema. That not a lot of international fans know. And she mainly do movies.
When she's in a drama, it's only as a quick guest character, so I was really surprised to see her as a main character in this show (and excited).
Araki Yuko is growing on me, she really has a presence on screen. Her character isn't that interesting, but my eyes are really drown to her (not just because she's drop dead gorgeous XD)
