Very interesting article. I too have asked myself this question. I prefer literal translation. I really like it when the subbers translate weird expressions and then explain it with a * or (). I think it's the best way to translate, and you don't miss anything while learning new things.

I was the same, but I saw Park Shin Hye as the second female lead in Goong S. She was supposed to be an evil rich girl and she was great. So I think she just doesn't chose the right characters to play.

But well, japanese dramas aren't like other series or dramas. Because Japanese people are different from others nations, I don't think it's really possible for them. Well, each nation is basically different, but I don't think that Japanese people wants to see that. After all, jdramas are made for Japan. They want entertainment, and real issues are not considered entertaining. At least that's what I think... Oo
