Because of the very last scene, outstanding and thrilling, it deserves 10/10!It's a great crime movie.
I thought there was some sloppiness in the plot-line that was not made clear. Also, things revealed themselves in the last third of the film in a too-convenient kind of way, one after the other.
That was confusing though, because in his memory of that night it was pitch black in that room where Ah Jung went into the abandoned house. She threw the rock out at him, he picked it up and just threw it randomly back into that pitch black room, so it would have been an accident. However, in the junk collector's telling of the story he could see Ah Jung clearly in that room which means Do Joon would have seen her too. So was it pitch-black in there or not? I have no idea. And if Do Joon did it, as the junk collector said, why DID he put her up on the roof?
Whoa, what a let-down. I've waited a long time to see this and am disappointed that it's a bunch of nothing. More like "Seeds of Boredom." Endless hand-held shots of the back of the lead's shoulders, neck and head as he goes here, there, everywhere doing something or other. Nothing significant ever happens and everything feels random. Really bad.
Can someone recommend a link to this flick on which the subs make sense? It's such distracting gibberish on all the sites I've tried that I can't make out what's going on.
The synopsis is a COMPLETE spoiler! Who the heck writes these things??? #smh
Even worse is the big pile of "tags," which is nothing more than a conglomeration of spoier after spoiler lined up for the delicate flowers here who fear being "triggered" because they don't know every last detail of what they are about to see. TAGS should be behind a button named "Tags" so normal people don't have to have the movie ruined for them.
Wow. Yet another obscure (to me) film on my to-watch list comes out of nowhere and blows me away. I cried off and on the entire second half just because I was so touched by the ceremonies, the reactions of loved ones and the MC's slow realization that this, of all things, was his dream; something he had been born to do.
I live in the U.S. We don't do death real well here. It's mostly thrown into the hands of the funeral director and they take it from there. I haven't viewed the bodies of most of my deceased relatives because it spooked me a bit and I didn't want that to be my final memory.
This, however, this is different. The beautiful ritual of it all, an elegant choreography of movements and actions that honor the dead and help the living say farewell, is so moving. I wish that ceremony was available here. I'd like to have one myself.
Great acting. Loved how the wife saw and understood that her husband had found his calling. The allegorical stones and the way the were handled was lovely. Bravo. 9/10
A certain user from yesterday replied to me “what if someone goes through the similar experience” in context,…
BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO! You said what I've been saying here for a year now but have largely given up on: It is amazing how many SJWs and prudes are part of the gay-themed drama, movie and BL fan base. Like you said, it's very simple: if you don't like it TURN IT OFF. But I especially like what you wrote about our triggers not being the responsibility of the creators; there is no way to avoid everyone's freaking triggers and still make good work. I don't even like the tags provided uner synopses of shows here on MDL because they are really a list of trigger warnings, give away a lot of the plot and should be behind a click button. I like to go into a film with as little knowledge as possible about what is going to happen, be a bit of a blank slate. These trigger freaks enjoy their faux outrage however and find it their responsibility to force their notions of morals and behavior onto everyone else. BTW, I live in the U.S. and just discovered BL and Asian gay-themed cinema about 18 months ago. Now I'm branching into more Asian genres and loving it. I just continually find that there is a depth of feeling in Asian acting/direction that doesn't exist for me with Hollywood films. Just to be clear, I do not want Asian content creators to be censored; I want them free of anybody's restrictions.
You’re right about Ohm. I had not so long ago, rewatched some episodes of Make it right and you could really…
Drop me a message if you run across a film or series you think I may not have seen. I would appreciate it. Have a great day! oh, btw, A Frozen Flower is a historical gay-themed drama with first-rate acting and production values. I don't watch a lot of historical dramas, but this one is sensational.
You know somebody is a troll when they say that Nanon and his character are boring. Obviously this person has…
It's hilarious that you think the dialogue in this show is deeply meaningful and thought-out. "Queer-coded dialogue..." lol Are you a Queer Studies major? BTW, I'm gay and I've been in relationships of course and the combination of dialogue and plot in this show is out and out ridiculous. But you keep at it and write a thesis about BB's grand status as an iconic work of Epic Queerness. Me, I'll just look at Ohm.
You know somebody is a troll when they say that Nanon and his character are boring. Obviously this person has…
My arousal needs were served quite nicely by Ohm's extended shirtless scene, which again, is exactly what the director intended. Are you claiming to not have noticed his beautiful and incredibly sexy torso? The first half of your comment makes no sense: I already said I FF through most of it. There are NO sex scenes that I've seen. One nice kiss on the rooftop, so why would I watch this for its sex scenes that don't exist? Don't you have arousal needs? Are you human? Do you think there's something bad about being aroused?
Also, just because you say ahead of time that you're going to make a completely predictable, unoriginal, trope-filled cliche fest as your BL, doesn't excuse the fact that that is what you end up with. If he intended to just do what's been done, what's the point of doing it at all?
You’re right about Ohm. I had not so long ago, rewatched some episodes of Make it right and you could really…
Thanks for asking. As far as BLs go, my two faves are really in a different league and a much higher level than this one: "I Told Sunset About You" and "I Promised You the Moon." Other fave BL series are "His: What Is Love?", "Grey Rainbow," (stop the film right after the couple signs their marriage agreement), "History 3: Make Our Days Count," "TharnType," the BL cut of "Love Sick" and "Love Sick 2," "Like Love" and its sequel, "History: Obsessed," and "Addicted: Heroin." There's a few others I can't recall...its' 5am here now. lol
Actually, I discovered BL and Asian gay cinema about 18 months ago and it was like a new universe opened up. I think I've watched everything out there at this point. I'm thinking I might have somewhat enjoyed this series if I had come upon it in the first weeks/months of my discovery when everything was new. But now I can see how there is nothing original in this story and it's just repeating other BLs before it that I have seen. I've been watching lots of Korean/Japanese/Taiwanese gay-themed films but also branching out a lot into other genres from those countries and I'm blown away at the quality. Hollywood has NOTHING on Asian cinema and at this point if its not Asian and/or gay, I don't want to see it. :D Have you seen the Korean gay-themed film "A Frozen Flower?" Magnificent.
So maybe I'm just growing out of BLs...I don't know.
You know somebody is a troll when they say that Nanon and his character are boring. Obviously this person has…
The "story" is easy to follow because I've seen it in a hundred other BLs before. There are no "depths of emotions" here...it's all argue, pout, make up, argue, pout, make up over and over while they hide from their "friends."
You know somebody is a troll when they say that Nanon and his character are boring. Obviously this person has…
hahahaha..."lustful pair of eyes." What is this, the Evangelical Christian American Prude comment section? It's always amazing to me how many little prudes there are in the BL audience. The idea that these young gay men actually have SEX frightens you, doesn't it? And ummm...why do you think the director had Ohm shirtless for that entire scene? It was purely for us to lust after him, see? And there's not a thing wrong with that. Ohm clearly spends a lot of time in the gym and I think we owe it to him to appreciate the results, don't you?
Sure, in this case especially cause most everything else about it is ridiculous. Do you have hangups surrounding the visual appreciation of beautiful human bodies? Yeah, I think you do. "Lust" makes the world go round.
Yeah, the last 45 minutes dragged the whole thing down with massive implausible implausibles all over the place. Do people normally confront violent serial kilers one-on-one in dark places while the suspect is doing what we saw him do? Just stupid and it ruined a pretty good tale to that point. I was fairly obsorbed in it until the main characters started accusing each other ridiculously and having the usual Korean screaming fits at each other that leave reality behind toward the end.
Make it make sense please 😕 Wow insulting Ohm wasn't enough, you had to insult a whole country as well? I wonder…
Oh dear, aren't you the angry little thing. Where in the world did you perceive that I insulted Ohm? That's in your head, not mine. He's too good for this tripe and if that reads as an insult to you, well, I can't really help. I love my friends, but then, I have friends who happily accept me and whomever I bring into my life as an intimate partner. If you have to hide your most important relationship from someone, they are most certainly NOT your friend. But you go ahead and bend over backward to try to make this plot work...I'll go another direction. BTW, Ohm's character doesn't want to hide it in the first place. It's the other dude with the hangup. Talk to him about it.
It's cute that you believe all the bullshit actors, directors and others say in promotional interviews and through their public relations departments and marketing teams. I choose to believe Ohm is smart enough to know this show is crap but of course he's going to do as he's asked to do and say likewise. It's part of what he is paid to do regarding this show. You probably believe everything K-Pop groups say in interviews too, right? Are you 13?
It's telling that among all the thousands of positive comments here, my one exception is making you foam at the mouth. lol Insecure much?
Actually, there aren't many Korean dramas I like, but there are a few. It's the movies that keep blowing me away. And what is it you think this show is trending at "number 1" in each week? The list of currently airing BL series? Do you realize how tiny we BL fans are as an audience? Hardly anyone on the planet, percentage-wise, even knows what a BL is, let alone that there are lots of them. Get a clue, sister.
This is a great example of someone that wants to get aroused by a BL but refuses to learn and accept the culture…
OK...I will try to work with you here: I was most definitely NOT aroused by this BL, but I am aroused by the sight of Ohm without a shirt, as the director intended me to be. Now all this about the "culture and rules of the country making it." What is it about "the culture and rules" of Thailand that require a terrible script consisting of tired tropes and cliches and juvenile behavior by characters supposedly in college? Thanks for your reply.
