Literally everyone is an ass, rude or doesn't understand Jong Woo from the very beginning of the show (it basically…
Your comment is what's stupid-ass. You write it to me but in the third-person as if writing to someone else. Are you schizo? The reason you think "the world is gray" is so annoying and that I'm a "know it all" for saying so is that you know it's true but cant' bring yourself to admit it for some reason. You're also a liar, but I won't waste my time with that or you
Well, I agree but I don't ever really get an answer when I ask if this level of bullying really takes place in…
I can't bring myself to skip-watch because I HATE knowing what's going to happen ahead of time if I choose to watch a film or series. Which is why I find tag lists under synopses annoying. It's hard to skip one's eyes over that list when visually moving from the synopsis to the comments on a show's page. Come to think of it, the list of tags could easily be behind a button labeled "tags" so as not to inadvertently spoil the plot for viewers. I think I'll suggest that to the powers that be here at MDL.
Currently I'm watching Asian dramas and movies at the rate of one a night, lol I became a little concerned that I am obsessed, but then reminded myself that millions and millions of Americans sit down every night for Hollywood and New York-made television, or watch Netflix or Hulu or whatever, or kill each other in video games so what's the difference? People only worry about such things if it involves the "unknown" or "other," which is what Asian drama and series are to most Americans.
Yea I could have done without all the rape. That was too much. I was hoping for a bit more from four episodes.
And your original comment should be under a spoiler warning, btw. Viewers should be able to go into shows like this without having major plot points given to them ahead of time. And yes, I know all about the tags people add to these descriptions, which I consider nothing less than a list of spoilers, and I try as best I can to not read them when deciding whether or not to watch a show. A well-written synopsis should convey the outlines of a drama without filling in all the space in between, which is what tags do. If you're so delicate as to need to know exactly what's going to transpire over the course of a fictional presentation of a story, then you should probably not be watching anything.
Please. This is not deep. It's boring. I'm 40 minutes in and begging for something of interest to happen. This film makes nearly falling five stories and stabbing a classmate to death in the toilet dull. Hated to see Yukio go so early on. He is insanely handsome/hot. Those facial closeups in the bathroom were jaw-dropping. Matsuda Ryuhel, who plays Kujo, annoys me for some reason and I think it's that he has no lips. I saw him first quite a bit older than this in some other movie and his lack of lips was about all I could think about during that film too. Plus he seems to have a low affect that's the dominant trait of his personae regardless of the role. Not an actor I'd seek out.
That girl deserves to die. Hiroku or whatever her name.
Classic psychopath with serious sadistic tendencies. Yeah, I shed no tears for her either. I was surprised she went down so early in the series though.
I tried...but I'm dropping after two eps. Our antihero is fine af but I'm just kind of bored with it. He hasn't taken his clothes off yet, so what's the point? Four more eps as a police procedural/cat and mouse game? Nah, not for me. If he turned out to be gay that could be cool but I don't think it's going to happen, so...
I never read that stuff here on MDL. If it's more than 4 lines of text, just skip it.
How do you get a feel for whether or not you want to watch a series or film you've never heard of then? Thanks. :) Oh, they also include all the tags at the bottom so you'll know exactly what plot devices are included, I suppose as a means of "trigger warnings" to all the delicate ten year-olds who frequent MDL.
God, who writes these stupid synopsie in which they give away almost every major plot point? I read them to get an idea if I want to watch and end up knowing everything that's going to happen. Ugh. I need to figure out some way to scan a few sentences and then stop if it sounds interesting.
To anyone who might stumble across this comment...I have a question: During the early rape scene, the girl appeared to be immobile, maybe even asleep or drugged on the bed. She certainly wasn't physically fighting the pigs as they victimized her; I didn't even hear any screaming or sounds of protest from her as each guy took his turn. I don't know what to make of this. Did I miss something about drugging her? Your thoughts please...
Really well done. The cinematography, production, direction, acting were just wonderful. The story realistically,…
You summarize the film way better than I could. Oddly, I, who cry easily, did not find that happening, even during the young woman's confession to her prayer partners near the end. I was riveted by it all but also felt detached somehow. I'll be mulling this in my head for a few days I think. I'm curious as to why the film is so much lower rated than the 8.5/10 I gave it. I suppose it's that "lack of drama" you mention above. Though the subject matter is horrific, it all unfolded quietly and without scenery-chewing, which is a good thing. :)
A sad and painful yet true story, highschools can be a scary place.
Once again, we see kids physically assaulting, abusing, beating, humiliating a student right in the fucking classroom. wtf? I understand this is between class times or something but where the fuck are the teachers, principal, janitor, coaches? It just seems so extreme and hard to believe that such a level of abuse could go on with no authority figures stepping in.
It continues to blow my mind that, even in moderately good Asian films like this I see acting that moves me so much more deeply than what I spent most of my American life watching...Hollywood movies. That scene near the end, the mother facing the computer and reacting to the video. Stunning. Special props to the special effects crew for the crucial scene just prior to the one just mentioned. My jaw dropped to my chest. Stunning. If I saw what she saw while carrying the guilt of my own contributing behavior as she did, I might have done the very same thing. I wouldn't wear a tell-tale yellow rain coat though. :) Good acting, direction in general. It often felt disjointed to me though. But still, a good flick.
I have a soft spot for this short. It's far from perfect and has lots of production issues, but its heart is smack-dab in the right place.
The MC was a lucky fellow to have two such cuties around him. I sure wish a Feng Xiao had shown up in my life during high school. The actor was perfect for that part: such an open, friendly, handsome face with a perpetual grin written across it. Adorable. I loved the bit near the end where poor, hen-pecked Yin Ze and that nasty girl just happened to cross the street behind Li Yang as FX was snapping a pic. lol Perhaps a three-way would solve everyone's problems? :)
I hated the chubby mean girl but then felt bad when she turned out during credits to be a victim of bullying. Horrible.
And subbed movies in this day and age that do not have subbed text messages are infuriating and ridiculous. I am grateful to everyone who subs. It's a lot of time and work. But come on, movies, especially movies set in high school and college, are going to include lots of texting. It would be unnatural if they didn't. To leave out subbing the texts is like ignoring portions of the dialogue.

So...4.5/10 and dropping. Enjoy!
