Massive spoilers so be warned!ooookaaaaaay, omfg! I'm all for twisted dark movies and shit, but this one just…
I agree about the acting but think the whole movie would have had a lot more power if both MCs weren't so obviously repugnant from the beginning. I hated them too, but not for anything they did. I just got a nasty/unhealthy vibe from both a soon as I lay eyes on them.
Shoud be titled "My God," but not because it's shocking. It's more boring than anything else. I felt like from the moment he took that kid in after the monsoon we all knew exactly where things were going to go, and indeed they did. I was able to predict each step as we went, not that that's some great feat, given how everything seemed telegraphed ahead. From the moment I saw him I wanted to punch him. From the moment I saw her I wanted to slap her. Just something off-putting about both characters. Anyone in that town who couldn't smell from a mile away what was going down is a moron. I'm all for sexually transgressive, twisted plots and characters but this was so predictable as to be dull. Add to that a number of implausibles, and I arrive at a 6/10.
HIS CELL PHONE WAS HACKED AND THE HACKERS TRIED TO EXTORT MONEY FROM HIM! Stop judging people until you get all…
Wow. At last I get to read a comment from an undoubtedly unstable, psycho, puritannical K-Pop and/or K-Drama Korean fan who thinks what they decree about an entertainment figure is of any relevance whatsoever. It is psychos like you who help harrass and hound on the Internet young stars into an early grave via suicide. It is none of your fucking business what people do in their private lives. The insanity of the unbalanced K-Netizens, who obviously have no lives of their own to tend to, will be the downfall of the industry someday when people have finally had enough.
I like how your implication above that my favorite Korean actor, Joo Jin Mo, was involved in some kind of "scandal" (without providing info or context) was immediately shot down by another commenter, so you just ignored what they said and proceded as if he had done something wrong or immoral or whatever. Go get a life of your own and stop trying to live through movie stars, hoping to bring them down so you can feel superior and a little bit less pathetic than you are.
I think I have to stop watching this drama at ep11. I was okay with one encounter between ML and FL. But now seeing…
Could you please take a moment to tell me wtf is this "infidelity zone" obsession/phobia you have? Are you afraid that if you see it on screen you might go do it too?
My "wtf?" was for the poster above who so desperately wants to avoid FICTIONAL dramatic presentations in which there is infidelity. That's about half the dramas or movies there are, don't you think? I don't get these tender, puritanical viewers who have to be protected from dramatic material of certain types. They should just stop watching movies and stick to documentaries about flowers or something.
Now that I see Joo Jin Mo the Actor God, is in this series, I will def be watching. He blew me out of my seat in one of the first Asian gay-themed movies I ever watched about 18 months ago, "A Frozen Flower." I spent most of that movie with my mouth wide open, watching through my fingers and he was a big part of why that was the case. What a powerful, phenomenal actor. I can't wait to dive into this.
Why do you say she didn't love those kids? Of course she did. Look what she put herself through trying to get them back. The ending was a stunner. I don't think she had any idea right then WHAT she was going to do or even how to feel. My god, the woman went through hell.
Twitch films did an excellent review on this that covers everything I'd want to say. http://twitchfilm.com/2014/10/busan-2014-review-peter-chans-dearest-devastates.htmlThis…
I gave this a 9.5/10 and yet, like you, I didn't cry as much as I would have expected had you told me what I was getting into. I def shed some tears, but maybe the rest was a sort of shock that so much pain was possible. I think where PengPeng had to end up is an easy answer but the woman who raised him for three years did nothing wrong and my heart broke for her. And she was so brave in her pursuit of reuniting with him and/or the girl.
I wish more people would watch this amazing movie. What a heartbreaking story, somehow I felt for both families.
Oh, absolutely. How could one NOT feel the pain of that poor rural woman who was lied to and is also a victim here. It seems to me there's no question where Peng Peng needed to end up, but she did nothing wrong and her agony seems nearly unbearable.
Once again and seemingly for the thousandth time, I sit here speechless at the power of yet another Asian film to move me to my bones. If I believed anything made by humans could be without the slightest flaw, I would give this a 10/10. But I don't believe that, so I'm giving it a 9.5/10. I just finished watching and really am without words so I'll come back here when I am ready. One thing I am ready to say is that I firmly believe our world/universe is entirely made of GRAY with a sliver of white and black on each end...this film beautifully and compassionately deals with that reality regarding one heart-rending area of human tragedy where the words wrong and right are almost meaningless.
To anyone considering watching this film, just do it. Prepare yourself for the privilege of viewing a masterpiece.
