This drama is full of silly characters and stories, yet it grows on you the more you watch it and you end up caring about most of them.
I like cooking related shows to begin with, so that was a plus. But the thing I'll remember it for the most is the sismance. Jiang Pei Ying must be one of the best friends I've seen in dramaland and a very interesting character, a witty, shrewd, modern and down to earth woman, with a profound understanding of romance, relationships and gender differences. It is amazing to watch her guide the airheaded clumsy Fang Xiao Rou, her BFF, through the ups and downs of falling in love and managing to start and keep rolling her love story. The female viewers might even learn a thing or two from her, useful tips for everyday relationships issues LOL
As for the teenage cast, they are all ok, but the Wang Mai Zhi & Wei Qi Zhen pairing was so much fun to watch. The cute, bubbly version of the not so original Korean chaebol heir-poor girl trope. He is also arrogant and rude, but such an endearing boy growing into a man ;) And the way he helps her blossom, supports her, instilling confidence and strenght, def. makes for a refreshing watch...

Oda Nobunaga is an unconventional military commander during the Sengoku Period. Adopting the slogan “All the world with the force of arms”, he has ambitions to subvert all stereotypes including the imperial court which is a symbol of authority, and build a global power to rival Spain and Portugal. Sakihisa Konoe, an important court noble who heads one of the five regent families, understands Nobunaga well and has had a close friendship with him since young. However, in trying to unite the country, Nobunaga attempts to go over the court and become the ruler of Japan. Alarmed by his actions and desiring to protect the imperial court, Sakihisa steadily opposes him while battling against admiration and intense jealousy. Nobunaga’s general Akechi Mitsuhide identifies with Nobunaga’s vision for the future, but also has a strong reverence for the imperial court as well as Buddhist and Shinto deities. He starts to have misgivings and fear as Nobunaga destroys the existing order and ruthlessly massacres people. Meanwhile, Kajuji Haruko, the wife of Crown Prince Sanehito and mother of six children, decides to approach Nobunaga to protect the imperial court too. However, Haruko who has liberal views, is struck by the difference between her stifling life inside the palace and the freedom of the vast world outside. Just when she is fed up with the life of court nobility, she has a startling encounter with Nobunaga and is steadily drawn to his character. While he was in prison, he committed all data of the criminals serving time including modus operandi, techniques used, reasons for turning to crime as well as psychological tendencies to memory. On top of that, he became a professional who knows everything about the psychology of people who commit crimes. This “special ability” drew the attention of the top brass and he was reinstated as a detective because of their plan. This was the birth of a detective with an intimate knowledge of criminal psychology. His favourite phrase is “I know. Because I was inside for 10 years.” Despite the unbecoming behaviour he adopts towards detectives, he hates crime more than anyone else. Once this switch comes on, he will become totally absorbed in a case. He got into the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in order to expose the truth of his own wrong conviction and a big conspiracy related to it.
Minami Kaho as Anekoji Chinami
A middle-aged detective of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s General Crime Response Unit. Takuma Yoshito’s former partner. She has a very serious and methodical personality. She has strong pride about her detective job. Although Takuma’s behaviour is unlike a detective and that gave her a hard time. Her husband, who was a police officer, died in the line of duty. Because she relates to Takuma’s hatred of crime, she understands him well too.
Ashina Sei as Matsubara Yuiko
A detective of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s General Crime Response Unit. She had also belonged to the Second Investigation Division which is in charge of cases involving the electoral fraud and corruption of politicians. She is so strong in data analysis that she was sounded out about a job by the cybercrime unit.

A detective of the General Crime Response Unit. She transferred from the joined as a new member Criminal Investigations Department’s General Affairs Division. She gets swayed around by the investigation methods of Takuma Yoshito earnestness. In truth, her uncle is the present commissioner general of the National Police Agency. A security director of the National Police Agency’s Security Bureau, but he has been seconded to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. He dragged Takuma Yoshito to Tokyo on the orders of the commissioner general of the National Police Agency and set up a department that would make the best use of Takuma’s ability. The pretext is “a team which investigates, collects and analyses information is beyond the bureaucratice organsation for the purpose of dealing with borderless violent crimes” but what is his true intention?
It is not often that a high school rom - com feels so smooth and natural, with a perfect balance of goofiness and seriousness. The leads portrayed almost to perfection your average teens, with dreams and troubles, fangirling and puppy love, fight over grades and popularity, bullying and friendship to last for a life time.
The way those boys and girls fall in and out of love makes you feel like it could have been your own story, even more if you look back at your own youth from the perspective of the adult you are now.
A really delightful watch, that will put a big smile on your face and will leave you dreaming about the power of true love.

This was one of the better Korean period pieces of 2015. It's a shame that Korean netizens and moviegoers are so prone to be influenced by the showbiz gossip and scandals involving actors, so my guess is one of the main reasons the movie didn't do so well at the B.O. was Lee Byung Hun's sex/blackmail scandal... Too bad, the movie is such a delight for the eye, exceptional cinematography and lights, exquisite action / fight scenes and up to par acting. They might not be used to the wuxia feel to their sageuks, but you'd think Koreans would still appreciate such a high quality production... Their loss anyway... Watch this if you have the time, you won't regret it! It might not be the most original story, but it has all the right feels :)
