I watched the drama first so I did feel just like you, but when I started reading the novel and saw the author’s note, my opinion changed and I knew that the other characters were just close friends.
Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen were just sworn brothers in the novel, but seemed like they had feeling for each other in the drama (that is how I felt anyways).

I just finished the novel yesterday, and while reading there was a note from the translators that said that the author confirmed that all characters except for WWX and LWJ were straight.

They were close in the novel, but I don't think it was love. I believe Xue Yang was happy that the 3, somehow, felt like they were a family.

He also begins to recollect his memories in a seemingly odd sequence, such as him being the culprit of all the recent murders, Tae-joo was actually the one to hit his car, and he has been drowned under the nearby reservoir, while the voice of the investigator can be heard, "The memories of those who are losing it tend to protect themselves first". At the end of the sequence, Byeong-soo stares into the camera and smirks, thinking to himself, "Do not trust your memory".

I felt the same way watching on WeTV (the subtitle segments were very short; they don't add 5 seconds after the person stops talking like they do on Viki), in the end, I watched it at Netflix cause the drama was not available on Viki in my country.
