Overall rating is artificially too high to protect ML and Baby actors from their resume being too damaged bc the FL actress and script are terrible.

ML and baby characters and the actors are 10/10.

FL and FL-SML actors and script is 0/10 Ok maybe 7/10 just for SML actor. But FL actress is at most 1/10 but I would give her 0/10. Cannot act. Too tired, too malnourished to act. Another user below Edelweiss09 called FL "SNOOZE FEST OF A CHARACTER" - indeed, is an excellent description of FL actress acting.

Another user and I were discussing 'emergent love' (intentionally working in partnership to deepen the love) versus rom-coms and "submergent love" (falling in love without any effort) so now I can explain why Our Universe was such a tragic flop - and how to fix it.

Our Universe had a baby .... so that attracted audience which is not totally airheads. But the drama makers didnt get it... the drama was done like a classic brainless rom-com

A typical rom com is made for the audience that uses dramas instead of alcohol or drugs to turn off their brain and go into delulu fantasy mode...
- and such audience loves to fantasize about how great they could be and how much they can own/have... and wants to see only delulu fluff... NO work, committment, etc - only RECEIVING good things and RULING THE WORLD .... this kind of audience watches Perfect Crown, Dynamite Kiss. Pursuit of Jade, etc.

So that's why the drama had that FL character - bc that was a TYPICAL trash rom-com character - trash rom-com audience wants to see other ppl kissing their as@ - just like Sunbae and ML were bending backward for FL ... so that triangle plot was put into Our Universe to serve that purpose

so Our Unverse was done as a classic trash rom-com - started with falling in love bc they just happened to be living together (submergent love) but then failed to enter the stage of emergent love, (working in partnership to deepen the love)... and even worse, continued as a classic cheesy rom com with the love triangle as the focus - the drama totally forgot about the baby....

Emergent love plot is the plot that typical rom com audience HATES bc typical rom com audience likes only utmost delulu fluff - but Our Universe audience was a lot more mature audience and totally protested the drama when it became obvious that emergent love was not happening - and the sacrificed was the baby.

Our Universe Audience first protested bc baby was left hanging, neglected and essentially abused, in this trashy rom-com. Then the audience protested bc the ML was left hanging too.

So Our Universe could have been a rare true good rom com where submergent love evolves into an emergent love - the plot was there, THE AUDIENCE WAS THERE - but the drama choose to stay in trash rom-com mode and make drama called "FL and Sunbae Universe".

And one of the main red flags was the FL actress - where she shows up is most likely ONLY trash mode. If you see her in a drama, run.

So I think they need to redo Our Universe under a different name :) Wait a tiny bit until ppl forget Our Universe flop and then make a very similar drama but do it right
To be honest, that ML actor is perfect for that role and should be the male lead. ANd Woo Ju should be the child lead but he will be too big very soon - but why not, have a drama about Woo Ju later...

How about this - have Our Universe Season 2 where ML and FL split and she goes back to Sunbae and they go to the USA and leave Woo Ju with ML... so we watch him develop his photography, raise Woo Ju and then... he runs into a good woman and we see that relationship develop and Woo Ju get a great mom and ML get a great wife. it would be 16 ep at least

I think Our Universe makers really owe it to the audience to do that drama right

you can do what most ppl did - fast forward through all FL scenes and watch only ML and baby - they are PRECIOUS

Hm I have to start working now but I cannot keep my mouth shut here lmao Imo The Glory is not an emergent love story... It is a submergent love, according to the definition, and it is emergent toxicity and enabling .... and it TOTALLY TOTALLY lacks any elements of real love, it is a toxic enabling obsession relationship.
I cringe about that relationship bc he is just her Lapdog, he never stands up to her or challenges her, he just blindly goes down the most convenient and sleazy route of totally kissing her as@. There is absolutely no healing in that relationship. He encourages her lowest impulses and bloody revenge. Then she helps him do the same.
That is NOT love :) That is a toxic relationship of two addicts. THe two of them did not TRANSFORM, they did not change at all!!! Their relationship just pushed them further into the wrong stuff.

By definition, true love means transforming into a better version of yourself and serving the other person to do so too. So for something to be "emergent" and "love" it has to have constant work on oneself and to help each other evolve.

Yeah a good rom com always enters the phase of emergent love, and that is why good rom coms are so rare,bc the audience lacks the sophistication to appreciate the emergent love.

That is why Our Universe is a tragic flop, bc it had submergent going into emergent plot AND the audience was mature enough to appreciate it - and demand it lmao and bc emergent love wasnt there, the audience protested and shot down the drama.
The audience for Our Universe was impressively mature and observant. Now I realize the only reason that was so is bc there was a baby in the drama. So there is a hope for this world, ppl interested in babies are not airheads :)

But then most rom com audience is very immature and loves delulu easy plots - 50,000 viewers in Perfect Crown, 50,000 viewers in Pursuit of jade, 60,000 viewers in Dynamite Kiss, ... discussions on Practica Guide to Love are totally illustrative of that - so that's why rom coms avoid real emergent love.... and just stick to some catchy easy trash - essentially serving as "a bottle of alcohol" to dumb the brain :) and go into fantasizing mode... And they want to fantasize about how great they could be and how much they could owe/have

And yeah, you are right, "emergent" can be anything, parent/caretaker love, friends love, romantic love, servant/student love... Perhaps 'emergent" is synonym for dedication, in some ways.

Anyways, there aren't enough stories of friendship anymore. Any time two men or two women are friendly. lgbt+ suspicion comes in. Ok in this day and age, that is a good policy to always have that situation as a possible explanation, but also - we do not have good friends anymore... we are always online so we do not hang out with physical friends anymore ... :(

Ok definitions: EMERGENT VERSUS SUBMERGENT love by AI: "Emergent romance, or more formally the Emergent Love Model, is a relationship paradigm developed by Dr. Sara Nasserzadeh that defines lasting love not as a fleeting feeling or a "found" foundation, but as a dynamic outcome created by intentional actions and shared building blocks.

"Emergent romance" is the plot in most rom coms anyways, we see ML-FL going from enemies/strangers to lovers and overcoming all kinds of obstacles rather than this "I fall in love with you on the spot" idea.

BUT EVEN IF PPL "FALL IN LOVE ON THE SPOT" like YuMi did in Season 3... there are always obstacles .... creating 12 or 16 episodes is possible ... bc after ppl "fall in love' they still have to get together... and then do the "emergent" part :)

In fact, without "emergent romance" there is no good love story :) In fact, every submergent romance has to enter into "emergent romance" permanent state or else love disappears.

You just helped me realize that lack of subsequent emergent romance after the starting submergent romance is the reason why the in Our Universe totally flopped... and why cheesy submergent romance -based dramas became so great - bc they entered in the emergent romance phase...

Some of my fav "emergent" romances are Familiar Wife, many couples in Divorce Insurance, Discovery of Love, Noona couple in I need Romance Season 3, My Wife is Having an Affair This Week, etc and yeah all kinds of cheesy rom coms became stellar bc they had it, like My Nemesis, Positively Yours, or even dramas like My Love from Another Star and Legend of the Blue Sea, and even total cringe ones, like Potato Lab at the very end of ep 11 transforms into emergent romance and leaves the users in a "good memory"
and yeah the deeply healing ones, like My Mister, It is Ok It is Love (I plan to watch that) or It is Ok not to be OK (the concept is good, the drama is often cringe), and this one here has a potential.

As for rewatching: I had the most twilight zone experience when I rewatched ep 1 of Filing for Love. It was super late when I watched it first and I think I was falling asleep, and also ep 1 was suuuper funny and I wanted to study WHY it was so, so I rewatched it - and it was not funny anymore... !!!! wow. I then watched ep 2 and it was nothing special.

And then there is stuff which never grows old and just STICKS in your brain, like My Mister, one of my fav dramas ever. So my "rating" of a drama is: DO I REMEMBER IT? if I dont remember anything, it was trash. The more I remember, the higher the quality.

For this drama, I really disliked FL actress' fake acting in ep 2.... and I also watched ep 2 to late and was falling asleep, so I was planning to watch it again and see what I will think then...

lmao yes to me Dynamite Kiss is like a gold standard for classifying user preferences. If someone says they liked it, I know there is very little chance we would enjoy talking about dramas :) Also, My Mister is a gold standard :) whoever says they liked it, will be a good person to talk with. One of those Dynamite Kiss / Pursuit of Jade rabid fans wrote My Mister is bad boring drama bc the actor is old and ugly lmao

On another note, there is this current daily called Our Happy Days which surprisingly has quality of miniseries, it is not a crude makjang but a rather sophisticated plot, filming and acting and esp like after ep .. 10? when ML actor "woke up"

OMG YOU ARE RIGHT!!!! OPPA_ REVIEW ON SOLD OUT ON YOU IS JUST TOO SIMILAR TO MINE and honestly looks copied!!!!!!!! but Oppa_ used AI and wrote it "better" and got more ppl to read it and like it.

"damsel in distress" is a common concept in rom coms lol but the other stuff with it, really looks like my review was copied.... !!!!! Oppa_ writes good reviews on their own and does NOT need to copy my reviews, so I wonder WHY that user copied my review... ????

I appreciate it, to me what you wrote is golden, bc it is like a mini crash course. In this sea of watchers of fluffy, it is refreshing to find someone who has a deeper perspective. On that note, there is user Oppa_ with some really observant things to say in reviews etc. No it is not me :) but I think that user might be stalking my reviews now..

I watched My First Life and I have other issues with it - the message of it is very ... westernized yuppie - at the end they essentially ditch their families and culture and continue to live isolated in their own comfort, for the sake of their own comfort SOLELY.

I didnt watch that other drama so I will.

Ah, one more thought. I think MDL must be getting money by clicks, and/or even spreads spyware. But what I appreciate is that this is uncensored and you get to see what ppl REALLY feel about dramas. Reddit is sooo whitewashed that it is almost useless as feedback. But I was told by some users that drama production teams do not read MDL bc it is too informal.
So I wonder what social platforms drama production teams read to check on the audience.

I found one of his reviews on some drama - I forgot what it was ... ? but it was an excellent review - Oppa_ goes deep and I learn from his reviews, and we wrote back and forth

Then Oppa_ posted in Honour and he really blasted it down with excellent comments - he TOTALLY exposed that drama for what it is!!!!! and also it was clear Oppa_ is sexist - so I replied a lot about that - and I think Oppa_ got really mad at me

and then I found an old review by _Oppa I think? that was written in very bad English - looks like Asian native speaker maybe? - and I asked him about that and if that is the same person - something like that - he was really upset, called me vile eyes, and said he uses AI to help him write - and he BLOCKED ME

but since then I noticed that many times - every time?? - i write a review, Oppa_ writes a review. Since he blocked me, I never see any posts by him, but for some reasons, I can still see his reviews, but cannot comment on them. If I click on his icon, it is "unknown" i.e. that user blocked me.

Why that is fishy is I found a review on a daily First Man which imo is not something that Oppa_ watches... !!!! but there was that review, just under mine... And sometimes the review is already there, I think Oppa_ wrote review for Perfect Crown before I did.

SO to cut it short: Oppa_ is someone who usually writes very perceptive reviews, minus the sexism. I would highly recommend reading Oppa_ writing - well at least in the past, I am not really keeping up. His review on Dynamite Kiss, Perfect Crown, Honour, etc etc are really deep excellent reviews. i will check Sold Out on You then

Vincenzo, lower o Evil, and Crash Landing are totally NOT mainstream, they are very unique and thought provoking "alternatives"... masterfully done, and there is nothing like it.

But anyways you are YuMi' Cells fan? The Cells concept has depth...., and if you really dig through Seasons 1, 2, 3 you will find LOTS of material to think about. It is actually quite deep study in relationships and psychology. I wrote some detailed reviews :) I you even glance at it you will see that your fun drama exposes tons of useful info :)
Without Cells, Seasons 1 and 2 would have been shallow boring toxic stories

Sure I am sure it all happens...
But still... the audience's preference... it is indeed catch 22, the marketing shapes the prefrences,,, but the marketing is exploiting some existing preferences :)

as for rewatch value... I think those classics you mentioned are THE rewatch value 10 and all the fluffy stuff is rewatch value 1 bc there is always new fluffy stuff coming up

FL actress is such a phenomenal comedian. Her face when G asked her where is her arrow pointing now ... lmao Camera too :) when G came to type in the password and camera showed just FL's open wide almost hysterical eyes peeking from behind his sleeve and overheating - lmao
And the scene when they were looking at Joy and laughing, their faces so close to each other.... and they were walked on lmao - surprise!!!! - AND THEY DID NOT SEPARATE lmao they kept looking at each other from so close - lmao...

They both already fell in love. She is honest and direct, and he is a super aggressive in gettng her attention yet quite honest in polite ways, and she is such an easy target for his brazenly open flirting... so their interactions are complex, always new, unexpected, funny and very endearing. They are both in love already. He is such a skilled flirt, he is quickly getting her off her feet but I wonder what his intentions are, whre is he going with that and for long term. I suspect some issues with coming close. And she, she is the kind for long haul, and he better take good care of her.
So Miss Prude Boss is gonna have a heart attack but I am sure Min Ho will hold her :) I just wonder what she will do after ....
