It's pretty cute! Sort of slow burn I guess, but they have nice chemistry :)
It's not really slow burn as such, they are already in love as the show starts, it's just that we learn about their history at a slower pace. It's unfolding to us.
This is a top notch drama with meaningful plot. It has very little to do with Goblin or Doom, as this drama has pulled from solid folklore and has real mythos to pull from. What you can expect, is real, current commentary on the state of our beautiful globe and with COP26 in the news, the release of this drama couldn't have been better. This drama does, in 5 eps, what Doom couldn't do in it's full run.
The backdrop is the 'end of days', the 'spirits' of Earth have been commanded to leave, by the creator, because humans have mismanaged their term ruling the planet, and creator wants us dead. One such spirit is one of the very first born, Orad, aka the actual RAIN himself. Orad has sworn to protect a little girl, as her guardian, as she has great potential and destiny looms.
As her personal world falls apart, and his world departs ours, the Earth is falling to pieces, as rivers won't flow without water spirits, hot wells are cold, without sulfur spirits and the spirits of the unborn are seeking justice. She's dying. The world is dying'
This is very well made. It’s being compared to different supernatural dramas, but it’s unique. Even if by chance a reimagening of a Korean drama, it uses Taiwanese legends and belief system. Other than ML being tall, dark and handsome, and a supernatural being, similarities really end there.
I understand why people are feeling Goblin vibes, but I’m getting more Black and Angel’s Last Mission. Not because the genres are a fit, but because this show has, in just 4 eps, taken the time to give backstory to the mythology. The mythology is really interesting and satisfying. You can tell there’s more to come.
This is definitely more satisfying than ‘Doom at your service’, in fact, this drama title is more befitting this drama. This is everything I expected of Doom, but it never delivered. This drama is meaningful, where Doom felt soulless and contrived.
Is he her guard n always protect her?? And is wuxia and romance (chemistry) strong ?? What about love triangle…
They don’t have misunderstandings, because they’re both smart and read between the lines, in everything. She’s grown up as grand empress dowager’s granddaughter’, as an orphan. She’s been absolutely DOTED on, but granny has been teaching her to always be many steps ahead, in the palace game. She sees what others don’t, as does he.
I didn't watch that show. But someone who did watch, mentioned about the kiss there, and more less confirmed for…
You know, it wouldn’t surprise me, if some of the backlash from no kiss TLB, had something to do with his mother finally dropping the clause. Leo must’ve felt weird doing that silly non-kiss with Dilraba.
My week has been shit, everyday something stressful, from multiple sides….. then I picked up this drama, and I laughed. I laughed! Plenty of OMG, Holy sheeeit and embarrassments. I’m 40, so why am I peering between my fingers?
This is the story about a 12 year old girl, who goes to a Babylonian exhibit, then goes on to write fanfic, depicting what she believes would be her ‘prince charming’, featuring this gorgeous Babylonian ‘halfblood’ Prince and herself as his love interest. She then grows up, turns a certain age and BAM, funny shiznit happens.
What if our teenage fanfics stepped off the page, and into our lives?
Ok, I just finished the 1st episode. so far I don't like the ML, I'm sorry but his entrance is not even cringey…
It’s cringe, because it’s a story about a 12 year old girl, who wrote Babylonian fan fiction, about her ‘prince charming’, after visiting a Babylonian exhibit! She then grows up, turns 24 and shenanigans ensues!
FL is better here, than she has been in a long time. Paired with Joseph, it’s much less dry than Ruyi, well less dry than pretty much anything she’s starred in. Maybe I’m just excited over Joseph, I don’t know. Although her character is a mix of Ruyi and that drama where she was a Poison Expert(?) from a few years ago, I’m not as annoyed. If you’re watching in HD, some of the staging is gorgeous. Joseph reminds me a little of his character in Heavenly Sword/DSS. I’m enjoying this, not One and Only enjoying, but I’m having a good time. It’s clear that the leads are getting along well, it’s very fluid between them. In White Snake, the chemistry was constipated, as an example, in Ruyi, even though the leads are familiar with each other, it was terrible chemistry. Here, it is much better.
Oh really? Is it the story similar to this? I mean the author somehow motivates a suicide?
Dazai wrote the book No Longer Human, Lost is an adaptation. If you read briefly about Dazai’s life and end, and what No Longer Human is about. There is the connection. This drama in this article pays homage to Dazai.
I plowed through the terrible subs, just because I wanted to see where this ends, if it’s the same old ‘turn…
It was not.
Now, I’ll tell you why this is not a ‘sad ending’. This is a ‘everything returns to it’s rightful place’ ending.
Think of it as if Eve was returned to Adam, as the rib bone. They are never parted with certainty, but due to her being the ‘girl who must not exist’, she had to return to her rightful place, always just beside him.
I plowed through the terrible subs, just because I wanted to see where this ends, if it’s the same old ‘turn around’ trope, or not.
I’ve got through very few dramas with bad subs, this is the second time I’ve been rewarded a better conclusion, without fan service, for it. If you’re curious, the other drama is The Mysterious World, zero fan service, just a story to tell.

The world is dying'
...and then the LAST rain falls

Like LMAO!
And in front of all the girls!
