I actually think the rating is honest and truly reflects the show. Everyone knows when a show's ratings are high either because of ship fandom or the actors' popularity (there's a place for that as well). I find that good quality BLs with substance mostly fall in the 7.8 to 8.3 range as long as there's no rate bombing.

omg yes. I was just thinking the same thing. He has some experience with being a theatre director, I think. It's wild that this is his first drama and it's so good.

The third act had me bawling and I am not a crier. Such a heartwarming movie.

A no-angst mostly feel-good drama. Loved it.

I'm loving this drama a lot. I enjoy their immature antics around each other. I think part of it is that their relationship never got to progress beyond childhood/teenage bickering. That's pretty much how they know how to deal with each other. But see how they both behave with the 2FL even though they're all childhood friends?

Plus the synopsis practically says "the 'Mad Dog' inside her that had been quietly sleeping begins to emerge again when she reunites with Seok Ji Won".

Yeah. But the payoff might not come until the last ep.

If you dislike it four eps in, I don't think it'll get better for you. The storytelling is not linear or tidy. The lack of "structure" is deliberate. They didn't just slap a bunch of scenes together randomly.

They're actually not good for each other in the states they were. Both very broken and traumatised. They were pretty much just at the start of their healing journeys and to jump into a a relationship with each other would have been a disaster.

You must not be familiar with the sex/sensuality of Korean cinema. The idea that showing more sexual scenes in dramas is a "western" is reductive and frankly laughable. It's like saying Korean dramas have more swearing and smoking because of western influences when it's just a function of platform and censorship.

There are tons of k-dramas being released every year. Maybe look to platforms that still have those restrictions and you'll find what you like.

That's a separate issue. Still not cheating since she was already divorced from him and married to the new guy.

I think she lost weight for the role. It makes sense for the character to be waif-like given all she was going through.

I have little empathy for parents who in their grief over losing one child takes it out on another. It's horrible.
MC is about to have a painful separation aren't they? They were just too sweet this ep and given there are 4 eps left, some angst this way comes.

To echo a comment I read, it's an easy drama. Not too many twists so far. Side characters are OTT but you get used to them. Liking it so far.
