Interesting, your point is well taken. Knowing this, I wonder why writers choose to do this knowing the viewers will be disappointed with their change in direction so late in the series.
It always baffles me how people complain about a show while watching 30 episodes. If you give it a chance and after 8-10 episodes you really don’t like it, why don’t you drop it. I have so many shows on my to be watched list, I don’t continue with a show I dislike. I’m also a HEA person, so for a show that is already completed, I do a search for whether it has a sad ending. I’ve avoided a few critically acclaimed shows because I didn’t want to go through the agony of a sad ending after watching so many episodes. K and C dramas are my escape from negativity. That’s just me though.

Ugh. He’s so creepy in both looks and personality. is she really attracted to him? I hope not! I thought she was interested in the manager’s sidekick. We still have no idea on the condition of her ex and what the relationship between him and his nasty wife is after the baby. I wonder if he’s home sick and taking care of the baby now. This show continues to be a consistently good weekend drama. The mix of comedy and drama is so well done. All the characters and the actors who play them are perfect. I typically don’t give a rating until i complete the series, but at this point it’s a solid 9 for me. This last episode had me on a roller coaster of emotions. it’s half way through with all the important secrets yet to be revealed. I’m looking forward to the second half and seeing how all these issues are resolved

From what I have read lately, some dramas cost a lot more to produce therefore they reduce the number of episodes. You can sometimes see the difference in the multiple settings, wardrobe, cars, special effects, and all of the things that contribute to the overall budget. Daily dramas that go 100 episodes have cheap, repetitive sets and hardly ever film outdoors. I also think some stories do better with shorter number of episodes and avoid unnecessary filler. I think that the best dramas are the ones where we want more episodes no matter how many there are. You also get less repeat scenes which are common, especially in older dramas.
Her brother and SIL are comically evil. They aren’t the classic evil couple like the ones in CLOY, but they really are clueless, lazy, inconsiderate and selfish. Other than the desire to run the company that he seems to have not big part in currently running, why is his relationship with his sister so contentious? He doesn’t seem to be lacking for money and he married a wealthy woman who truly seems to love him. He actually has it pretty good at the moment.

Yes, all great points about their similar backgrounds. I’d like to add to that. They both has strict, harsh fathers. We don’t know the backstory of her mother who I assume is dead, but we know the story of his mom is tragic. I think they will help heal each others broken parts.
