I'm in and so far I'm a little disappointed that Mingyue doesn't have a little more ability in fighting/horse-riding and stuff. She grew up as a wild-child and the first episode had her in a chase but they completely abandoned that. She doesn't have to be supergirl or anything but it would have been nice if they showed her as competent again because I feel like she comes across as a little whiny. She's got a spoiled princess personality instead of someone struggling to adjust to life as a princess after being given lots of freedom in her home country.
Overall I've been enjoying it but I'm a big fan of period TV shows set in ancient times and I'll watch nearly anything so maybe I'm not the best judge of what is good and bad in this genre.
Just watched Adventurous Romance on the app it seems to be machine translated.
That's too bad. Hopefully it works reasonably well and maybe if the App gets some success they'll get some professional translators in there - maybe not for an entire series but enough to clean up the machine translation subtitles where it is needed.
I like historicals but I'm not really a fan of what they've been doing romance wise and the Seo Hwi character sucks because it has absolutely no depth. He's the best at everything. He has the best heart, the best skills, he's going to get the girl. The only thing you learn early on is he's too nice, he's too good at everything.
Seo Hwi is a cardboard character. His sister is 10x more interesting and the actress deserves more screen time.
As for Seol Hyun I've seen worse from idols (male & female). She's been decent compared to the herd of Kpop idols but she's not the focus. The focus is a played out Kdrama trope where one guy can only do right and is the best at everything while the other can do no right even when trying to... and is worse than the good guy at everything.
I know Lee Ha Nui (Honey Lee) is technically listed as a main role in Shine or Go Crazy but that's an impressive performance for me and she's not the female lead.
The emergency medical kit for a scratch, sending someone to the hospital after they faint in the rain and then you watch other shows or the same show and a serious medical issues arises and all of a sudden delay, ignore because clearly it's not as life or death as a minor scratch on the knee or fainting in the rain.
Awful. The leads have no chemistry... you can't play music and use slow motion to cover for this. Are they dating other people in real life? Is this just a paycheck they didn't really want to be involved in?
If you're obsessed with the idea of cheating, sure you might be able to overlook this but I went in to it for Puff Guo and now I'm out after 1 episode.
I can't see the romance. She looks 12 years old. He looks 22. I can't imagine how awkward some of these scenes must have been for the lead actor but from his actor page it seems like it's his first big break... so you gotta do what you gotta do to make it as an actor I guess.
I don't think it's as bad as other people here in the comments but the show is only half -way through and what exactly are they going to do for the remaining 8 episodes? It feels like this show should have been 10-12 episodes. Or if not 10-12 episodes then maybe they should have been solving a legal case every 1-2 episodes along with the circumstances of their death in the background being solved over the 16 episodes.
The plot is pretty weak because stuff keeps flipping and judging from the preview of next week, more of the same but the cast is really strong and the jokes are good.
I feel like comedies can get away with a weak plot if they are funny enough and this one is really funny.
Awful. The writers/directors topped it all off with a flashback involving a character with a blurred face, the memory involve many characters and the rest of them didn't have their faces blurred. I mean what? This was way worse than Kill it.
I agree with others saying the writing/directing was a bit weak and muddled but they were consistent start to finish and there were no cop-outs. The ending is clear on who lives and who dies. I think Cruel City is the best comparison here. The ending is clearer but Cruel City maintained its complex story better. I really hope Nana gets more roles, I really like her.
