To be clear, I never accused you of hating ladyboys or queer people. I simply questioned why a prince's glittery costume became the breaking point when queer expression has no single standard. That was my only point.

I can understand his frustration as the type he’s describing has always been the stereotyp for gay people in the West, so him not fiting it and seeing it as the only representation can be annoying I guess. But yeah it turns out his way of saying it can end up looking homophobic, it’s totally fine to be more « feminine » or « masculine », and it’s ok if he has preferences, but no need to bring one down for that. I have read the Book too. But related to Charan and the Charan in the books i the a lot of similarity. But we only known the trailer, so its not easy to judge the complete series.

But i think, in the book are the clothes very detailed decribed. At least partially.

Yea the manhwa did AMAZING without a straight couple, which begs the question, why was a straight couple/romance necessary? Besides some key chemistry moments between Heesu and Seungwan important for heesu to fall in love has been cut off.

The show's good but its important to discuss these issues. Valid criticism is necessary. If this were an original people would be fine but its an adaptation and people generally are more critical with adaptations compared to originals for obvious reasons.

On gmmtv bl lineup I started watching Kidnap and almost every episode made me want to revisit Never Let Me Go because it does the drama, action and romance 10 times better. So I'm going to rewatch NLMG for the 3rd time.

I know. Gong Gil is NOT a trans person. He is a gay man who dressed in woman's clothes ONLY for performances. I mean, he was so clearly a gay man in man's clothing for every scene other than some performances, that to say he was trans is more than pushing it, it is absurd.

Especially when one considers that ALL female roles were played by men in those days. The above comment was clearly made by someone who knows nothing about the history of theater. The fact is, theater groups were all men, with men playing female roles, not only in 16th century Korea, but in Elizabethan England's Shakespeare plays as well. Those actors were not all "trans" but simply men playing female roles because women were not allowed to be in the theater. It's stunning how people who are utterly ignorant to the history of theater think they sound smart by tossing around a trendy term like "trans."

The web novel was inspired by the movie. The drama wasn't an adaptation of the movie and wasn't beholden to the movie's stomach-churningly straight storyline. It was adapting the web novel and free to explore the gay parts. The only thing stopping it from going full-on gay was the fear of losing viewership from homophobes
