glad i didn't listen to comments that said it was dragging after ep16 or that miao was annoying. 🤣

my hot take is that Miao has matured more than chen for their relationship, and this drama is the most impressive so far in showing a couple get out of codependency and trauma bonding. they are healing slowly in all the raw and mess they are stuck with. yes dysfunctionnal but the way they navigate it, with every new episode is so human.
its becoming one of my favourite shows ever!

first time i watch republican-era dramas, the reason is my last sentence.

ai-slop opening, the scenes sometimes feel off in the way the actors look frozen or extra melodramatic and the scenes have the pace of a short drama...
all of these have nothing to do with this 'era' drama, except maybe the melodrama? i kinda enjoy the extravaganza melodrama so far😅
the attention to the details and dialogue are really nice. ZLH roles of hate/love are really iconic like kunning palace, i think this role will also be incredible tension! especially with WCR as co-lead. i know these 2 main leads will carry this show regardless!!

its a sign of a great production /direction/actors if we are able to see the imperfection of characters and admit thats its not simple

been catching up the episodes and i just love this cdrama so much! the story is absolute classic plot but the actors, scriptwriting and direction made it so well so far (ep17).
1-they took the time to establish their childhood memories, the character developpement, even the 'maturing', esp for miao in all her chaotic environnement, were brillantly shown in little details.
2-the ost is absolutely beautiful and on theme,
3-the humour elements are just spot on without undermining the heaviness of the topics.
4- the nuance of characters is so well done by direction and main actors to depict heavy drama

It's the kind of shows that you get to enjoy the silences, the details moments (broken glass), even the closeups on the main leads are done with brillant intention.

I am rooting for Ai mi since her role in the double! she really shines here!! but omg so young still for such a good performance.
even if the first episode of this cdrama was a bit all over the place, the seemingly simple plot is thickening very nicely!! some shows really nail the progression of a drama like this one, where the pace keeps up without redundancy.

after the big heart to heart moment i think we understand better lifei's stance and how now she is way more careful. i also think the screenwriters like to show the natural complicity and non verbal understanding between the main leads while still keeping the angst for obvious reasons.

i cant believe i missed out on this gem fir so long! the boat scene was surreal 😂 that's when i realized this show is full of surprises

i wasn't expecting much but this show kept surprising me ! the way it escalates the drama in a fun way, hard to anticipate what happens next! it has a very dramatic portion and its also amazing.

i also skipped it initially but after LHF, i gave it a try! i think the script & story is quite brillant especially how the drama keeps escalating! TJC's character is quite different but amazingly played as usual! FL is also so talented!!

exactly !! its a classic c-romcom but the main leads are really pulling it through! their scenes at home reminded me of 'friends' sitcom at times... they r effortlessly funny !

first episode was meh but arent most shows like that 😅 many are missing out on a really wholesome romcom performance from the main leads! i wasn't expecting much but I knew TJC was gonna be exceptionnal! &WCR is absolutely amazing too here😍

the main lead dynamic is really exceptional... even if it was from 3 yrs, their acting is top tier compared to other 2026 shows. the plot was really slow to pick up but im invested too! it just got enough layers ! i loved how dare you but i felt they were stretching the plot at the end...i didnt finish it

I initially started because of TJC! very classic modern life drama... although its not *super cinematic* they main leads really carry this show... their acting make the shallowest plot look real. by yesterday's episode, I am enjoying more and more the very back to basics filming style like when the electricity was out and she took her phone to put some lights and him wearing a mask. it all just felt really authentic. but not gonna lie, the pilot was quite annoying. i'm still loving this show because of the main characters and actors!

100% and here it seems she barely had any advantage in her rebirth, but she did grow enormously to her true character/potential

what she could resolve is the unsaid words and regret of not reconciliating with her dad. I think its huge, but we have still to know why he still got sick in the reborn timeline

that would be a random twist!! she would be really lucky ?

okay u got me at comedy, and it's one of the very well done aspect of this show, the comedy part of it is blended flawlessly. combined with her overflowing confidence I think we had hoped for more power from her😅 i am loving the twist so far because i think we will understand more the rules and how far she can take her destiny in her hand

I just caught on the show! the story is really cool althought it starts wayyy too fast!!! also the moments/scenes they choose to tell the story sometimes undermines the depth of the characters... especially for main leads as they r really at the center of most scenes... so sometimes it looks too expected or repetitive... but some dialogue is really nice.
it's funny because the actor's last show was also with main character zhao (different actress) and he really carried the messy show...
while there are slow moments for main leads to grow on each other even if the show is fast paced, i can't help but compare with kunning palace for example where the tension was way higher!
i'm so happy to see duling as FL and her character is really great but sometimes too binary!

i am loving the young king's growth!
