Some people give a show a chance with more episodes because it really takes time to warm up... there are things i really loooooove in this cdrama!
particularly 2 episodes:
1- the episode in the field, with the game competition, the feeling from that episode was so special!
2- the episode with the attack on the city, so fast paced but the action was phenomenal and how it unfolds it really keeps you guessing.

this show is finally growing on me but at first i really needed to adjust to the overly dramatic cuts of the story

Zhou Ye has taken skilled fighter roles in other cdramas, but i doubt you want to see same actress in 2shows at the same time!

exactly! that was so extreme. it was very refreshing to see him finally live by his rules instead of the elders and supporting his sisters decisions for example... but what he did for his own marriage was two big red lines so far.

from the cdramas i've seen so far, getting a happy arc mid-show is an omen of a tragedy, so hopefully they get the spring ever after at the end😭🙏🙏

absolutely give it a try! against the current is a great script and strong production! PoJ had a fire start and cinematic incredible moments, but the second half fell short when they left for the city.
this show is more rounded, realistic and you have more story arcs, nuanced characters, a nice journey. we are still far from the last episodes, but so far it exceeded the bar.

'if he would just listen to her for a second' would solve everything😭😭😭 she told him already but he is so much in his head.
while he is doing a lot of extreme things( drugging!!!) their dynamic is quite relatable when a couple has a deep disagreement.

also the grandpa! reminding jinqi about being close to the emperor can be the road to your end. makes me wonder how tied the lin were back then and the choices they had to do to 'survive' and not end like lanxiang's family

he is only lucky lanxiang changed her mind!! or else she would have!!

in the early episodes they mostly planned separately as well but ended up being aligned. Now it's like a reset for their complicity.

she is just starting to open up after they came back

what sold it for you in this one? i also prefer it to blossom, but i find the double more balanced. but there's another one i think is even better: kill me love me! for example, the stranded arc, similar to 'yan and yuna' arc, but in kill me love me it was actually lived and shown instead of 1 short scene sitting on the shore in spring of the blade they keep repeating...a long time jump like that.
spring of the blade did take a few shortcuts in the storytelling it's missing some substance but aside from that its very enjoyable intense drama.

the episodes go so fast in this show scenes jump for high key moments to high key moments in a soapy very melodramatic way !! finally this episode had a few slow scenes!
when qinyan asks 'what would yuna do after?' she is finally seeing more than the revenge, and her character development is coming along!! finally relaxing, smiling and getting excited for something...

road to splendor and against the current were really the biggest surprises of the year for me too! straight to my top10 cdramas!

this will be a nice journey!!

after the wedding he literally said that he didn't care if she wanted as long as she was his wife.... it feels sooooo out of character!!probably his only flaw??
but he sure knows how to ask consent and be progressive when it comes to his sisters?!! i really don't know how she'll move past this!

even if she accepted that he was so young, i think the trauma is really about being bound by that 'family' and the status rules. going back to that family she tries soooo hard to stay away from and accept that it wasn't meant to be.

i agree!! she is clearly PTSD but until he knows her real identity he will never explain anything...
the real elephant in the room is that not once did he ask to see if she agreed. Was it because being from a wealthy family he never learnt to ask consent of wife?! no because he was more than capable to help his duke marry his sister with the willing sister. the whole point was about consent!!
I find that its a core issue in the plot and it's a bit out of character.
was he so jealous he didn't care what she wanted as long as she was his wife? yes, he said that.

him being petty and silly is not enough! so proud of lanxiang for being so strong!
i really don't know how she can move past while healing from her trauma like that tho

trying really hard no to hate jinqi... even if he is being silly.... or that he was out of the city and didn't want to miss the timing to ask her, or that the elders would refuse....
he burnt all the complicity and respect they had by doing exactly the opposite of everything lanxiang worked so hard to avoid😭😭😭

lanxiang POV during the wedding day was PERFECTION!!
FL keeps surprising me in this show!
production and editing they really know how to make the moment feel heavy or awkward in the right way. i love it!

yes its never a bad direction to focus on the women! in all nuance without superficiality. the ex wife is brilliant tragedy arc.
