I felt this drama was much weaker story-wise compared to Li Ke Yi's version (她靠修仙在现代风生水起). That said, I actually preferred the actress in this adaptation, and I liked how the relationship between FL and ML was developed more here.
The plot is the same old rebirth sisters swap-husband trope, but I do like the different setting. That said, the FL is just too weak. Those villagers are such flip-floppers...Poor FL—she can't even defend herself properly. She just stands there while the 2FL slanders her until the ML comes to save her. 😩
Two ignorant fools—a father and daughter—and their green tea cousin. The drama had a good storyline, but the prolonged scenes focused on these foolish characters really lowered its overall quality. I was satisfied to see the father-daughter duo finally get what they deserved in the end.
I actually prefer this version over *Covering with Water Does Not Accept Old Meanings* (CWD) (2025).
CWD made a point of showing FL's survival monologue, emphasizing that she didn't really have a choice because it was tied to both her revenge plan and her own safety, which made the situation feel much more coercive. I like that this version doesn't dwell on that. Instead, after a brief moment of surprise and hesitation, it shows her making the decision to go along with it.
ML was so cute when he quickly made his exit before anyone could ask why he and FL arrived at the banquet together. 😂
While there is still plenty of drama from the mother and sister, I found it much more bearable than in CWD.
There were still things I didn't like about this version. Sometimes the actresses' gestures and reactions felt a little too exaggerated and fake to ignore. 🤣🤣. The close-up shots also didn't help—they were used a little too often and weren't always the most flattering.
This is so much better than the other sloppy version. The FL actually feels like a mature adult in this one, partly because of her outfits and styling. The other version made her seem more teenager-ish. I also like that this version dives deeper into the backstory and explores things the previous versions never really did.
Why does everyone talk so slowly? 😂 Every scene feels like it takes forever. Are they intentionally dragging out the scenes?
The pacing honestly got so slow that I could only give it an average rating. I was bored through most of it, but somehow I still managed to finish it... 😏🤪
Good story. I started watching it because of Wang Dao Tie and Zhao Jia—they're both solid actors. Unfortunately, it didn't excite me as much as I expected. The performances were good, but the story just didn't fully grab my attention.
Having a more seasoned actor can really elevate a familiar trope. Even if it's the same plot, it feels more refined, and the drama doesn't come off as cheap or overly ridiculous. 😅
I became a fan of Chen Si through social media reels, but I never watched any of his dramas because I don't usually watch modern vertical dramas. This is my very first Chen Si drama, and I absolutely love it! 🥰

The constant dragging and slandering of FL is starting to bore me too. It feels like the story isn't really moving.
ML kinda feels like a side character.. And honestly... this version's FL is kinda bland...
I think I still prefer Wan Qing Xin (2025) version.. 😏
If anyone has another link, please share... 😁 tqia
