more like he gave her back what she dished out, but never as meanly as her, and only bc she started it lol. i truly beleive if she hadn't gotten it into her head that she needs to compete with him for everything, not her fault it's their dad but whatever, then he never wouldve been the one to start any rivlary with her in the first place. also, whever she's asked him for help he's given it, right from the start, when she needed to trace whoever tampered with her car.
i have to give credit to hj's brother. he has never once blamed her for being the catalyst behind his mother's death, while their father has, modeling that behavior for him from when he was young. plus she's always been in fierce competition with him, rubbing it in nose whenver she did better. he still never treated her badly tho. absolutely incredible of him.

otoh, if hj would have stayed married, catching feelings for ian, which is the pm's biggets fear, then he would have been left out cold. but it's all moot atp bc she rejected him; she does have feelings for ian; and she's about to find out what he did to both her and the man she loves.

you're also incorrect. she has done for him, to the best of her ability, as circumstances allow. for instance, she's the one who dragged him away from the queen mother and comforted him when the qm attacked him. she's also the one who told him to stand up and fight, when he was ready to give up the engagment, and perhaps even his plans to retake the throne, after the car crash. she is supporting him, defending him, giving him a fresh lease on life. that's why he continues to be devoted to her.
it's gonna be tearjerker, i fear. we're all rooting for ian, but everyone, including ian, loves that little boy. it's always the innocent kids who suffer for the parents' misdeeds...

i have a semi theory, myabe just a thought really, that ian, bc his wife was attacked, is going to accelerate his plans to take over the throne bc only by outing the rot and having full power himself can he fully protect her. before, it was his intent to gradually lead up to it, he was playing the long game, but not anymore. which is why he pushed his nephew to do the royal work himself. and why he froze for a minute there the next time he saw his nephew in person. he knows what's coming, and is getting ready to be a bit ruthless. it'll be hard for the poor innocent boy, but in the end it'll work out for the best. poor ian tho. and poor baby king.

Pm min, beforfe the car accident several eps ago, made a throwaway comment lamenting about there not being a lawful restriction on age to rule.
Its possible, bc his son was essentially a todler, and he himself was drowning under the pressure of the crown, that the late king's edict had two componenets-abdication to ian, plus a rule establishing an age limit for the monarchy. (Even with a regency in place, you can see the strain on the boy king today, so a regent isn't a good enough alternative for an underage heir taking over.)
since this story takes place in a constituional monarchy, i'm not sure what the law are, but they likely deviate a bit from the original J era. Does parliment establish law? Doe sthe king? Iam seemed to indicate that they are only ceremonial at this point, but is that entirely the case?maybe when it comes to succession it is the royal family's choice, but the parliment must officially confirm their choice? the possibilites are endless.
but the age thing, and law revision, and the pm's throwaway comment...the pieces are all starting to come together...
I have to say, for a show that's meant to be fluffy romance and light commedy, the writers are delivering a fair amount of intrigue and drama in very interesting and engaging ways.
