On August 2025, China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) announced they will no longer strictly…
That makes sense, I always knew that there’s no way Chinese government will let their historical dramas be half told even if it’s propaganda sometimes.
All their masterpieces that are based on true history are over 40 episodes. This was always gonna be a great challenge for producers.
Definitely not a masterpiece. It could have been if there had been actual character development for the FL, consistent…

Does happy ending equate to masterpiece or the drama being good?
I read some conflicting reviews, some complaining the change of script with reasonable explanations but the ones calling it a “masterpiece” or good drama highlight happy ending more.
I remember The Rise of the Phoenixes being a master with a reasonable sad ending but got rated low and didn’t get the hype it deserved because people wanted a happy ending.
So, I genuinely ask, was this drama a masterpiece? If yes, what makes it one?
For me was hard to watch until the end. But this is my opinion. The first half of the drama was good after that…
Thank you, I think I won’t continue. The comments made me conflicted and I started having hard time from episode 17 and decided to wait for more episodes from episode 19.
