On Hometown's Embrace Aug 9, 2021
I loved this series. I've noticed that I'm really enjoying the low budget series that are coming out of Northern Thailand. I'm partly prejudiced because I've visited Northern Thailand and they are very proud of their culture and heritage. I think that's why these types of series really take my heart.

It was wonderful that a group of gay men and a trans woman saved the village. Although they ended up having the transwoman, Jidlid become comic relief to an extent (which I hate), they also showed her as smart and a good fighter.

Yes the intrusive product placements are annoying, but they need to raise capital and so I had to ignore it. Also, the actors cast in this series are from the provinces so they may not have the coaching resources available in Bangkok. I'm hoping to see them in more projects in the future.

Where did u watch it?
Watch at. your own risk since there are some disturbing scenes, especially in the final few episodes.. The over acting, the men running around in hideous underwear (even though I enjoyed that they do not have gym bodies), the random musical numbers, everyone is in love triangles. LIke I said, My Boy is like Masterpiece Theatre in comparison.

No, but there was (fake) dog poop eating, OOT men in drag, ordinary looking men...and disturbing.

I'm still here for you Nut and Satha! I like the drama between the girls, but skip the teachers. I'm waiting for Satha and Nut to tell each other how they feel, even though it's clear to the viewer. Even though this show is far from perfect, I still like it and will continue to watch it. I prefer the quirky nature of this series and the characters. There is so much going on that it's almost psychedelic.

I think that they should have deleted episode 6, made episode 7 the new episode 6, then made episode 8 the new episode 7, and in episode 8 the Pitch and Bank resolution episode along with Sky and Sun being more firmly established. I'm not trying to say I'm a professional, I'm just a viewer.

But he's not a toddlerrrrrrr he's a whole adult! Also, RIP Rubix Cube. Sun said that was his only childhood friend…
I was responding to people ripping Gun's acting. I thought that he did a good job acting like a toddler. A couple days ago, they posted a BTS showing two takes of the sofa scene and even Gun didn't want to do any more takes! Yes, RIP Rubik's Cube. Sky better make up for it.

I'm hoping that this is based on Joou to Shitateya since there are going to be Thai versions of Love Stage and Antique Bakery (which is not originally a BL).

Is this good???.....also any other recommendations for ongoing or recently released BLs......???
I think that it is very good, but to me, this is a series where you have to read between the lines. I think that with some of what is currently going on in Thailand, these characters may be somewhat identifiable to youth. I'm not going to get political since I don't know much and I'm not Thai.

There is an overabundance of product placement, to the point of being obnoxious, but it costs money to produce these shows so I just ignore them. There is skin whitening soap if that bothers you. Unfortunately colorism is everywhere.

Like if you only care about Ou Wen & Mark!
I only watch the BL cuts. I think the network notices this because they made a cut of their relationship from the beginning to where they ran out of filmed episodes.

Wait! How did Satha get those green teas without spending 10 minutes at the coffee counter and having the 2 women…
LOL about the director's cut. He was at the campus branch. With no ladies, he could hear the whole conversation between Nut and the cutie pie who gave Nut milk in the bathroom (I'm not sure if that was intended, tea would have been funny too). I still love it though, even if I'm the only one.

Where did u watch it?
It was on YouTube. I don't think it was an homage to early John Waters, that's what I had to say to keep watching it.

Wait, who is dude at the end ? Is he Nut's cheating ex from ep 1?
Yes. He showed up last episode and saw Nut arguing with Satha.

I'm the lone ranger and liked Episode 6 because Nut and Satha finally spent time together! This show isn't deep and it's not trying to be philosophical. I finished Swap Test because I kept telling myself it was an homage to John Waters. This is Masterpiece Theatre compared to that.

One of the most difficult things to learn in helping professions is that the person has the right to not report.…
Even some those who say they have been through SA show very little compassion toward Bas, instead of understanding him like Kaprao. From what I've seen, most SA survivors are more like Kaprao. TBH, some of the bluster from self disclosed SA survivors is still unresolved trauma in my opinion. They may disagree, but that's what I think.
Bas has very little outside support. His agency is a concentration camp, his family will not accept tears from a man. He has suicidal ideation, clear from Episode 1 of this season. He is in conflict, he wants a career, but if he commits suicide, it's all over. The ambivalence that people who have been victimized is well done here.
For some people, reporting doesn't equate with peace. Daisy from documentary Audrey and Daisy committed suicide in 2020 even though she has been regarded by the SA community as a hero. The consequence of reporting is that now it will be public, especially in this case because it involves the entertainment industry. The fact that Bas is surviving today shows that he is strong, he just needs to know that he has a safety net before he will be able to jump. Sorry so long.

If you look at this character, he is already close to a mental breakdown. He has been isolated, starved and deprived of sleep. He has also been sexually abused. His living conditions are more in line with a concentration camp. Plus, there's the stigma of male sexual assault. The bullying that will come after he reports may be what pushes him to suicide since he is already having ideation. At least he has not committed suicide. If you haven't heard of the Amanda Todd case or watched the movie Audrie and Daisy, I would recommend them. You will see the possible consequences that comes with reporting. I cannot support Me2 if they do not support the rights of ALL victims. We can agree to disagree, but I just wanted to present a different point of view.

What the hell is wrong with every sick person in the comments condemning Bas for not wanting to reveal what happened…
One of the most difficult things to learn in helping professions is that the person has the right to not report. No one has the right to take away self determination, regardless of what others think. People have their reasons for not reporting and to victim blame is just wrong.

The write yourself a poem pick-up strategy was one of the lamest I've ever seen.I like when stories of gay life…
Yes, I'm older and hetero, but I've tried to support LGBT entertainment. The movie Savage Nights ( Les Nuits Fauves) was the first time that I saw an actor who I thought was gay (he was actually bisexual) really kissing another man on the screen. Prior to this, I had only seen the dead fish kisses or cut aways. Unfortunately, the director/writer/actor died of AIDS complications after filming, but the darkness of the content, and how he treated his lovers reflected the times we were in. I think that's why I'm a little optimistic when I watch BL.

That was exactly how I felt when I saw the question mark. This was such a beautiful and well-acted series, but…
Maybe it would work if they continued a similar format and have it be about their courtship without external manufactured drama. I'm sure there is enough material to use what each man is struggling with to create conflict, so a returning ex won't be necessary.

Wonderful, wonderful! They are still going to be in contact. Reb has acknowledged that he needs to mature, JM realizes that he needs to trust, for themselves, and their own wellbeing, not to hang on to their relationship. My only concern is if there is a 2nd season, the outside world will be involved and it may give rise to stupid conflicts like the ex coming back. So I have ambivalence about a 2nd season as the end credits suggest.

I think that Gun did a great job as a person who is throwing a huge temper tantrum because he can't have what he wants RIGHT NOW!! Anyone who has parented or has been around a toddler for an extended period of time has witnessed this behavior in toddlers. Poor Sun having his precious Rubik's Cube destroyed by that brat! I hope that Sky figures out that he is wrong and apologizes. We only have 2 episodes left and dad hasn't found out about them yet.
