I don't have a problem with the fact that is how it was, more with how it is portrayed as a great thing.

It was obviously produced by people in the business, I suspect even on the production team bc they were so sad at how it ended. The subs took much longer than I thought bc not only did they copyright it everywhere but they hardcoded the Chinese subs so I couldn't just download and quickly translate and reupload all at once.

Well maybe then try the book. The book's ZSC is very different. I can't say I like him more - he is more dominant and Type A but he doesn't communicate and she is totally docile. I loved the prose but I abandoned it bc I was thinking this is all physical attraction these two are gonna end up divorced for sure. I think O&O is an excellent adaption that elevated the book and improved both characters. Watch it and then watch the alternate ending for closure and just forget about F&E unless you really like light modern romances or are a huge fan of both actors.

Yes I think the attraction was there and building for awhile but in episode 5 you see them mutually aware of each other as more than master and disciple. The book is quite steamy but mostly in a very metaphoric way so if you don't understand the metaphors you may find it quite mild. I haven't looked at the translated version but if the translator is good, they may explain some of it. I like the drama portrayal a lot better than the book to be honest. The book doesn't really go into the past that much, it is just flashbacks.
