In my opinion CXZ might be the best chinese ml ever. ZWY truly showcased his acting range in this drama. He's…
He is one of the leads in Nirvana in Fire 3. Can't wait!

The scene was added to bent ML neck by looking at them in jealousy going on dates from wired angles like rooftop,…
At some point he is going to have a very unattractive extended neck like those geese she likes to eat some much.

Could be but hope not. The hidden princess is a boring cliche. I rather she be some kind of magician or poison master’s daughter or something like that.

I wouldn't say that yet. Its a plot driven story relating to a set of connected mysteries involving diplomatic relations along the Silk Road. The characters are not that important. It shouldn't matter if they are solved by a monk and a boy or a bickering couple.

No not at all - in the novel, the main protagonist is Xuanzang or Master Monk, the hero of Journey to the West. He was a real historical figure, one of the most famous monks who obtained Buddhist scriptures for Tang Taizong emperor. The novelist decided to write his own fictionalized account of Xuanzang's Journey to the West and gave him a small orphan boy Ashu as his servant/companion.

Ziyu doesn't deserve anything to be honest, almost everything is handed over to him by others. FL stuck her neck…
Its a fictional dynasty and judging from the powerful fief lords it should be an early one. By early Tang, the emperor was very powerful so definitely not Tang. Lamaller armour is actually from Qin, a super early dynasty. It is the body armor of the Terracotta warriors.

Thank you for your usual excellent review. I have always enjoyed reading your comments on the dramas that I have…
Thank you.
I personally enjoyed LYF more than LLTG. I think it has a stronger cast and the characters are fuller. But it is an angsty story full of heartbreak so it may not appeal to everyone. If you are ok with those kind of stories, then its definitely worth watching. As for Yanxi Palace I plan to watch it at some point but I have not yet.

FL you better not be some Yanle princess of the old royal family but sword wounds on your back says otherwise!
In the book Ashu is a small Zoroastrian boy.

Ziyu just ascended and he inherited the problems of his predecessors. He will have to work through all those issues they can't be solved all at once but he is quite cunning I think he can do it. As for all those other parts of the world, I am less familiar with their history and I do think the power dynamics are going to differ depending on the political structure and ruling institutions. Even in China I wouldn't generalize bc it has thousands of years of history so you have to be specific about which dynasties you are talking about. For about 200-300 years during the late Tang dynasty and late Ming dynasty for example, the eunuchs were extremely powerful and more or less ruled. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah I don't like it when either lead casually inflict that kind of violence on each other.

Maybe in the West but I wouldn't say that for China. Many Chinese dynasties lasted for centuries without an emperor that could lead armies. It is true that the founding emperor usually wins the throne via battle but holding on to it afterwards is all about politics including managing the fief kings, aristocrats and generals. Ziyu is very good at that. Bc he is a scumbug but that is what it takes. Genghis Khan conquered China but his dynasty was one that was quite short lived bc all they were good at was war. Same with Cao Cao.

Well technically the throne is inherited. So he doesn't need to be any of those things. But I think he is a fairly good emperor even though he doesn't have that much power. There are too many fief kings like CXZ in his kingdom.

I think it takes a certain type of asshole to want to sit on a throne to begin with.

I feel the drama as if they experimented with lines and images in the first two thirds of the drama, and then…
They could have ended it at 33 or 34 when Japan lost the WW2. Or the y could have ended it when Haimo leaves GYZ in 36. Either makes sense.
