He is not a useless foodie prince that is just for show. He is my prime suspect at the moment as the Man In White.

I don't think he likes strong women in general. He depicts them all in the most unflattering ways possible, most of the time as women who bully men. Even when they are "good" characters he makes them so perfect they are suffocating.

Yeah it feels a bit greasy the way it was portrayed. You could maybe even say it was miscast. But I believe Cui Jie really was a character in the original novel, which is allegedly a true account of Shen Xingxing's 3 years in the Golden Triangle.
