This episode fell really flat for me. The more comments I see building up, the more I feel like I watched a different drama. I was bored through most of it. There was excessive CGI and both Mofang and Shen Li were wooden. Mofang delivered on his early promise of turning into a cliche and I am gonna guess Shen Li will be back bc its only ep 23/39 and the drama IS called The Legend of Shen Li....

It was a pretty big scandal bc the PA novelist apparently stole content including character taglines from the Novoland Pearl Eclipse novel. And then the PA production itself stole dialogues from another writer or production. In short there was content theft all round and the story will never be completed.

Yeah there is a shortage of good strong FL roles in c-drama in general. In xianxia as a genre it is partly bc it is canon in Chinese mythology that both the Heaven Emperor and the Hell Emperor are male. But there are actually many important female deities including the goddess Nu Wa who helped Pan Gu create the universe.

Exactly. And it's so boring to be the #1 Ancient God forever. If he has offspring, he can hand over the job and go on to be just an Average Joe Ancient God and have some fun after a few thousand years of duty. These natural laws are so unnatural.
