I don't think Lanjiang is going down that cliche route. The character writing so far is better than that. He is a capable and worthy contender to the ML and as he said, if they didn't like the same girl they could be friends. It would also be unusual for a sitting Empress to support a rebellion. In any scenario, she would get demoted after the rebellion succeeds. I do think there is some smuggling/tax evasion or rebellion happening in the court but I think more likely some high court official like maybe a prime minister that is behind it.
Well they shot all of the episodes already but it was just broken into two parts bc of the episode limits. Totally agree Youku should have invested in Ancient Detective S2 instead but that got into an ugly scriptwriter dispute so it probably will never happen. Check out In Blossom, its not a bad investigative drama if you ignore the romance.

I feel bad for Mofang but I don't feel that bad for Shen Li. She deserved it. Truth is she doesn't handle Furong well and that was NOT the way to go in trying to rein him in or get him to break the engagement. The only two people she ended up pissing off royally were Mofang and Xingzhi.

Shen Li promised to get Furong off Mofang’s back but she mucked it up by first claiming he was “hers” to Furong and then admitting they are just colleagues . Which made Furong almost (but regrettably not quite) choke with laughter. So she was no help to him in fact she made it worst. He is peeved and jealous as well.

Idk much about k-dramas but they should all be paid for by subscriptions and/or ads. China is 50/50 ads and subscriptions vs Netflix that is 100pct subscriptions. Most Chinese viewers don't pay to watch. When the economy was hot there were a countless number of productions but it has now gone down by more than half. The ones you see are just the ones the three platforms make which get translated for foreign markets by the online platforms. There is a ton of other stuff that is just domestic market focused that never gets subbed. And don't worry about mistakes, its just a casual thread.

That's why all the dramas have been only releasing part schedules - it's not just a Shen Li problem. They want the option to slow down or speed up their airing schedules depending on whether they can sell out the slots. If Shen Li could have sold out everything we would get 2 a day every day. Unfortunately it didn't.
