Well the book was very long and it looks like the drama shortened it quite a bit. It's like LYF bc there are a bunch of dudes who love her but most of my friends dropped out before getting to the end so idk who the end game is. I listened to a few chapters of the audiobook, it's a lot about war and not that much about romance. The book is rated over 8.0 on Douban which is very high but I didn't like it that much it seemed quite heavy so I stopped listening. But the drama so far is lighter and more digestible.

The emperor is styled like the JOL emperor - the outfit is almost identical! It is a fabulous outfit down to the messy hair. And even the scene of the emperor bullying the doctor is very similar. Sadly, unlike Chen Daoming who is tan, lean and super cut for an old guy, this dude is too flabby to pull off that kind of loose saggy look. It just gives a saggy impression overall. The CDM version pops up in my head every time I see him like that and I just shake my head.

Excellent article - lots of good dramas in the pipeline! I am also looking forward to Celebrated Cases of Judge Dee which should be coming in the next week or two. And of course Joy of Life 2 but I think that is not likely this year.
